Üliõpilane:
- kirjeldab kõrgepinge olemust ja vajalikkust;
- teab isolatsioonile mõjuvaid pingeid;
- kirjeldab elektrivälja isolatsioonis ja füüsikalisi protsesse dielektrikutes;
- kirjeldab erinevaid elektrilahendusi gaasides, vedelikes ja tahketes dielektrikutes erineva olemusega pingetel;
- kirjeldab erinevaid isolatsiooni konstruktsioone;
- oskab teha kõrgepingekatsetusi ja kõrgepingemõõtmisi;
- kirjeldab liigpingeid ja nende allikaid;
- teab liigpingekaitse meetodeid ja vahendeid;
- kirjeldab isolatsiooni koordinatsiooni.

- describes overvoltages and their sources;
- describes overvoltage protection methods and equipments;
- describes insulation co-ordination.

Kõrgepinge määratlus ja vajalikkus. Isolatsioonile mõjuvad pinged. Elektriväli isolatsioonis. Elektrilahendused (läbilöök, ülelöök, koroona, osalahendused) gaasides ja vedelates ning tahketes dielektrikutes erineva olemusega pingetel: tööstussagedusega, alalis- ja impulsspingel. Isolatsiooni liigid: sise- ja välisisolatsioon. Isolatsiooni konstruktsioon: õlibarjäär-, immutatud kihiline-, tahke- ja gaasisolatsioon. Kõrgepingekatsetused, katseseadmed ja kõrgepingemõõtmised. Liigpinged. Välk. Kommutatsiooni liigpinged. Liigpingekaitse. Isolatsiooni koordinatsioon.

Specifying and necessity of high voltage. The voltages having an effect to insulation. Electric field in insulation. Discharges (breakdown, flashover, corona, partial discharge) in gases, liquids and in solid dielectrics under various voltage types: power-frequency voltage, direct and impulse voltage. Types of insulation: internal and external insulation. Insulation design: oil barrier insulation, impregnated laminated insulation, solid and gas insulation. High voltage tests, test equipment and high voltage measurements. Overvoltages. Lightning. Switching overvoltages. Overvoltage protection. Insulation co-ordination.

Eksami eelduseks on laboratoorsete tööde (4 tööd) sooritamine ja edukas kaitsmine. Eksamiküsimusi on eksamipiletis kuni 10. Eksam on kirjalik ja kestab 2 tundi.

During the semester there are four laboratory works, positive performance of theirs give the access to examination. Examination consists of up to 10 theoretical questions. The examination is written and lasts 2 hours.
