Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- teab ja saab aru oma kitsama eriala aktuaalsetest probleemidest ja uutest meetoditest;
- kasutab õpitut oma kitsama eriala probleemide analüüsil ja lahendamisel;
- töötab kaasaegse teaduskirjandusega;
- esitab oma teadmisi loogiliselt nii suuliselt kui ka kirjalikult ja osaleb teaduslikus diskussioonis;
- omab ülevaadet oma eriala ja doktoritöö kitsa spetsialiseerumisega seotud valdkondade arengutrendidest.

- kasutab õpitut oma kitsama eriala probleemide analüüsil ja lahendamisel;

- applies the knowledge to analyse and solve the problems in in his/her specialty;
- works with scientific literature;
- presents his/her knowledge and skills in a logical and structural manner both orally and in writing, and participates in scientific discussion;
- has an overview of the development trends in the fields related to his/her research and doctoral dissertation.

Doktorant täiendab oma teadmisi valdkonnas, mis pole kaetud olemasolevate ainetega ja on spetsiifilised antud doktoritöö teemale. Õppeaine sisu määratakse doktorandi juhendaja ja uurimisrühma juhi või instituudi direktori poolt doktoritöö temaatikaga seotud eriala kursustest ja materjalidest. Eksam sooritatakse uurimisrühma juhi määratud komisjoni ees.

Individual study in the area not covered with proposed curricula and is specific to the topic of doctoral thesis. The content will be specified by the supervisor and head of the corresponding department or research group leader, consisting of courses and materials related to the doctoral dissertation. The examination is taken before the committee appointed by the head of the department.
