Aine läbinu üliõpilane:
- teab hoonete välispiiretele mõjuvaid sisemisi ja välimisi niiskuskoormusi;
- tunnneb niiskuse haldamise põhimõtteid ehituses ning nende abil kavandada niiskustehniliselt toimivaid piirdeid;
- oskab teostada välispiirete niiskustehnilise toimivuse analüüsi nii enda projektlahendusele kui ka hinnata eksperdina kellegi teise poolt projekteeritud lahendust.
- oskab arvutada tarindite, s.h. betooni väljakuivamist ja teab kuidas seda mõõdetakse ning tunneb niiskuse ja hallituse kriteeriumite piirsuurusi.

- to know moisture loads on the building envelope from indoors and outdoors;
- to understand moisture managing principles in building process and to design moisture safe building envelope;
- to perform the analysis of hygrothermal performance concerning the solution designed by the author himself as well as designed by someone else;
- to calculate the drying out of building components including concrete and to know how drying out is measured;
- to know the limit criteria for moisture and mold growth.

Ehitisele mõjuvad niiskuskoormused. Niiskuskahjustuse liigitus ning põhjused. Niiskuse haldamise põhimõtted ehituses. Niiskusele tundlikud piirdetarindid ja materjalid. Ehitusniiskuse väljakuivamise arvutuspõhimõtted. Niiskuse mõõtmine piirdetarinditest ja kandekonstruktsioonidest. Viimistluskihtide paigaldamise kriteeriumid ja nende tõendamine. Mikroobse kasvu vältimine ja arvutuslik hindamine. Hallitusseened ja mädanik ning liigniiskuse põhjustatud materjalide keemiline lagunemine ja emissioonid. Niiskusturvaliste piirete kavandamine ning projektlahenduse niiskustehnilise toimivuse analüüs. Näited mittetoimivusest ning niiskusega seotud ehitusvigadest. Ilmastiku eest kaitsmise meetmed ja lahendused objektil. Elaniku ja halduri tegevused niiskuskahjustuste vältimiseks ja tuvastamiseks kasutusfaasis.

Moisture loads on the building envelope. Types of moisture damage and their causes. Moisture managing principles in building process. Materials and building components sensitive to moisture. Calculating and measuring moisture drying out. Criteria for applying finishing layers and determing the criteria. Preventing microbiologic growth by calculations. Mold growth, rot, chemical decomposition and material emissions caused by moisture. Designing moisture safe buildings and evaluating the desinged solution. Examples of poor performance and failures due to moisture. Moisture protection measures on site. Activities of inhabitants and real estate manager in order to prevent and detect the moisture damage.
