Aine eesmärk on luua võimalused omandada vajalikud teadmised koostamaks doktoritöö erinevates elektroenergeetika ja mehhatroonika spetsialiseerumise valdkondades; arendada teaduslikuks tööks vajalikke oskusi teaduslike järelduste tegemiseks ning teadustulemuste levitamiseks ja populariseerimiseks ning arendada teadusliku väitluse oskusi.

The aim of this course is to create an opportunity to acquire the knowledge necessary for the preparation of a doctoral thesis in various areas of electrical engineering and mechatronics specialization: to develop the skills necessary for scientific work to draw scientific conclusions and disseminate and popularise scientific results, and to develop scientific debate skills.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- algatab, koostab, rakendab ja hindab kriitiliselt teadus- ning arendustöid;
- argumenteerib ja osaleb aktiivselt teemakohastes aruteludes oma õppekeeles ja võõrkeeles;
- koostab ettekande ja esitab selle;
- tutvustab, analüüsib ja esitab oma teadustöö tulemusi aine raames toimuvas näidisloengus.

After completing this course the student:
- initiates, prepares, implements and critically evaluates research and development;
- argues and actively participates in discussions on the topic in their language of instruction and foreign language;
- prepares and submits a report;
- introduces, analyses and presents the results of his/her research in a sample lecture within the framework of the subject.

Õppeaine tutvustab eriala viimaseid teadusalaseid saavutusi ning valdkonna trende ja tulevikusuundi. Doktorandid saavad võimaluse oma teadustulemuste põhjal koostada enda kitsamas valdkonnas õppematerjale ja pidada doktoritööga seotud teemal näidisloenguid. Töö sisu on individuaalne ja kinnitatakse koostöös doktoritöö juhendajaga.
brief description of the course in English
The subject introduces the latest scientific achievements as well as the trends and future directions in the field. Doctoral students will have the opportunity to prepare study materials in their own narrow field on the basis of their research results and to give sample lectures on the topic related to the doctoral thesis. Individual work and agreed upon with the supervisor of the thesis.
