Aine eesmärk on:
- arendada süsteemset arusaamist energiasäästu kasudest ja võimalustest;
- anda teadmisi energiasäästu korralduslikest ja tehnoloogilistest abinõudest;
- õppida tundma tarbimise juhtimise olemust, põhilisi strateegiaid ja meetodeid;
- anda oskusi energiasäästu ja tarbimise juhtimise otstarbekuse majanduslikuks hindamiseks.

The aim of this course is to:
- develop a systematic approach for efficient energy utilization benefits and opportunities;
- provide knowledge on planning of the efficient energy consumption technical and administrative methods;
- learn the principles of power demand control, main strategies and methods involved;
- provide skills for economic assessment of power consumption efficiency and demand side control.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kirjeldab süsteemselt energiasäästu globaalsest ja lokaalsest tähtsusest ja võimalustest;
- nimetab peamised soojus- ja elektrienergia säästmise korralduslikud ning tehnoloogilised abinõud;
- kirjeldab elektritarbimise juhtimise olemust, põhilisi strateegiaid ja meetodeid tüüpilistes näidetes;
- hindab majanduslikult energiasäästu ja tarbimise juhtimise abinõude rakendamise otstarbekust esmases vaates.

After completing this course, the student:
- describes in a systematic manner the importance and opportunities of electric energy utilization global and local perspectives;
- lists main measures of efficient energy consumption technical and administrative planning;
- describes the meaning of electric energy demand side management principles, main strategies and methods in typical examples;
- provides an economic assessment to efficient electric power utilization and demand side management measures feasibility in primary targets.

Energia tarbimine, selle efektiivse korraldamise vajadus. Energiakasutuse trendid, energiaressursid. Energiakasutuse keskkondlikud tagajärjed. Energiasäästu globaalsed ja lokaalsed kasud. Säästupotentsiaal. Energiamajanduse juhtimise eesmärgid, meetodid ja struktuur, juhtimise tehnoloogia. Energiaaudit - eesmärgid, liigid. Eelaudit ja detailne audit. Elektrienergia säästu tehnilised võimalused tarbija poolel. Soojuse säästu võimalused tootmisel, jaotamisel ja tarbimisel. Elektrienergia säästu võimalused varustaja poolel. Elektri väiketootmine. Elektrinõudluse juhtimine - eesmärgid ja strateegiad. Nõudluse otsese ja kaudse juhtimise meetodid. Nõudluse juhtimise abinõude majanduslik hindamine.

Utilization of energy, requirements for the efficiency in planning. Trends of energy utilization, energy resources. Environmental impact of energy utilization. Global and local benefits of energy utilization. Potential for efficiency. Energy economics, methods, structure and management technology. Energy audit – targets, types. Preliminary and detailed audit. Methods for energy efficiency on the consumer side. Efficiency in heat energy production, distribution and consumption. Electric energy efficiency on the supplier side. Small-scale electric power production. Electric power demand control – targets and strategies. Direct and indirect methods of demand control. Economic assessment of demand control measures.
