Aine eesmärk on:
- anda ülevaade elektriohutusest elektritoiterakenduste kontekstis;
- tutvustada elektritoite tagamise põhimõtteid, nende peamiste parameetrite ülevaade;
- tutvustada toiteallikate parameetreid ja eri tüüpi toiteallikate kasutamist elektritoiteülesannete lahendamisel;
- anda ülevaade elektritoiteskeemide struktuurist, elektritoiteülesannete lahendamisest;
- tutvustada katkematu elektritoite tagamise põhimõtteid.

The aim of this course is to:
- provide an overview of safety in the electric supply circuits;
- introduce principles of electric power supply and main characteristics;
- introduce the characteristics of the power supply units and usage of different types of units in tasks of electric power delivery;
- provide an overview of the structures of the electric power supply units and solution steps to tasks of electric power delivery;
- introduce the principles of uninterrupted power supply.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kirjeldab lihtsamate elektritoiteskeemide ülesehitust ja võtmefunktsioone;
- kirjeldab tüüpilisimaid elektrikomponente ja nende ühendusviise, kasutab komponentide tähistamise peamisi sümboleid;
- nimetab elektriliste ühenduskomponentide nomenklatuuri ja kirjeldab eri ühendusviiside omadusi;
- nimetab tüüpiliste toiteskeemide peamisi suuruseid, valib standardse nimipingetaseme vastavalt püstitatud ülesandele;
- kirjeldab tarvitite ühendamist elektritoiteallikaga ja ühenduse teostamiseks vajalikke komponente.

After completing this course, the student:
- describes the build-up and key functions of simpler electric power supply circuits;
- describes the typical electric components and their connection options, uses the basic symbols for marking of components;
- lists a range of electric connectivity components and describes the properties of different electric connectivity methods;
- defines main characteristics of typical supply circuits, chooses standard voltage ratings according to the tasks raised;
- describes the connections of loads to the electric power supply unit and the materials required to complete the connections.

Elektriohutuse tagamine ja sellega seotud põhimõisted. Nõuded elektritoiteahelatele, tüüpväärtused ja standardid. Ühenduste teostamine ja töökindlus, lülitid ja juhtimisvõtted. Juhtmed, kaablid ja nende valik. Eriolukorrad ja nendes toimine, kaitsefunktsioonid. Tüüpiliste elektritoiteskeemide ülevaade: eramu paigaldis, taastuvenergiaallikate ühendamine elektrivõrku, akude kasutamine, elektrisõidukid, elektriseadmed. Nõuded ja põhimõtted. Praktiliste skeemide teostamine. Tähised ja põhimõtted elektriliste ühenduste kujutamisel.

Assurance of electric safety and basic terms associated to this. Requirements to the electric supply circuits, typical parameter ranges and standards associated. Connectivity, reliability, switches and control operations. Wires, cables and selection principles. Operation in critical conditions, protective functions. Overview of typical electric power supply circuits: household installation, integration of renewable energy units to the grid, battery operation, electric vehicles, electric devices; requirements and principles applied in these. Composition of practical circuits. Symbolics and principles of marking electrical connections.
