Teavitada soojustehnika valdkonna tulevasi spetsialiste taastuvenergiaallikate kasutusvõimalustega, nende tõhususe ja tunnussuurustega, nende kasutamiseks vajalike seadmetega, nende töö põhimõtetega ja dimensioneerimise põhialustega;
süsteemse, teaduslikul alusel põhineva säästva energiatehnoloogiaalase maailmapildi kujundamine.

Give to the future specialists in the field of thermal engineering knowledge about the using of renewable sources of energy, their efficiency and characteristic values, necessary equipment for application of renewable sources of energy and principles of operation of this equipment, introduce to the students the bases of dimensioning.
Develop systemic scientific outlook in the field of sustainable thermal engineering.

Kursuse läbinud üliõpilased on võimelised:
Tundma erinevat liiki taastuvaid energiaallikaid ja nende kasutusvõimalusi.
Analüüsima taastuvate energiaressursside määramise põhimõtteid ja meetodeid.
Oskab selgitada taastuvate energiaallikate energia muundamise seadmeid ja nende töötamise põhimõtteid.
Oskab analüüsida, kus ja milliseid taastuvaid energiaallikaid rakendada kohalikus energiavarustussüsteemis.
Oskab rakendada taastuvatel energiaallikatel töötavaid seadmete kasutust ja analüüsida sellest tulenevaid energiasäästuvõimalusi.

Able to size a renewable energy devices and analyze the resulting energy savings.

Tänapäevased elektrienergia ja soojuse tootmistehnoloogiad ja -seadmed.
Kohalikud kütused, nende ressurss, määratlus, omadused ja kasutamise valdkonnad. Kohalike kütuste töötlemise ja väärtustamise tehnoloogiad: kuivatamine, briketeerimine, gaasistamine.
Biomass, selle kasvatamise ja kogumise tehnoloogia, seadmed. Biomassi kasvatamise majandusaspektid.
Taastuvad energiaallikad: tuule ja päikeseenergia, nende osast soojuse ja elektri tootmisel. Tuule ja päikeseenergia muundusseadmed, nende mõju keskkonnale.
Vee ja pinnase soojuse kasutamine energiaallikana, selle mõju keskkonnale.
Vedelad ja tahked olmejäätmed kui taastuvad energiaallikad. Olmejäätmete mõju keskkonnale, klassifikatsioon, nende kogumise ja kasutamise tehnoloogiad: ladustamine, põletamine, biogaasi tootmine.
Vedelate olmejäätmete töötlemisjääkide kasutamine energiatootmises.
Taastuvenergiaallikatel baseeruvad energiatootmisseadmed, nende konstruktsioonide eripära.

Modern Technologies and equipment for production of electricity and heat
Domestic fuels, their resources, definition, properties and fields of using. Technologies of handling and of improving the quality of domestic fuels: drying, forming into briquettes, gasification.
Technologies for biomass cultivation and gathering, equipment in use. The economic aspects of cultivation of biomass and utilization technologies.
Renewable sources of energy: wind and solar energy, their contribution to production of heat and electricity. The devices for transforming wind and solar energy, their impact to environment.
Using the heat of water and soil as source of energy, the impact of this to environment.
Liquid and solid municipal waste as renewable sources of energy. The impact of municipal waste to environment, their classification and the technology of gathering and using of municipal waste: storage, burning, production of biogas.
Using of liquid residuals of municipal waste in power production. Power equipment based on renewables, the feature of their construction.
