Õppeaine eesmärk on omandada teadmised hoone sisekliimast ehk komponentidest mis tuleks hoones tagada, et inimesed tunneksid ennast ruumis mugavalt ja hästi. Õppeaine eesmärk on anda üliõpilasele teadmised soojuslikust sisekliimast ja selle alakomponentidest, õhu kvaliteedist, nii gaasilistest saasteainetest, kui peenosakestest, mürast ja vibratsioonist, valgusest ja muudest sisekliima komponentidest ehk ionisatsioonist ja elektomagnetlainetest. Samuti omandatakse teadmised inimese soojuslikust mugavusest ja soojusvahetusest ümbritseva keskkonnaga ja seda mõjutavatest teguritest. Õppeaine raames õpitakse mõõtma erinevaid sisekliima komponente nagu temperatuur, suhteline õhuniiskus, ventilatsiooni õhuvooluhulka ja kiiruseid ja/või CO2 taset ruumis ja õhuvahetuse tõhusust ruumis.

The objective of the subject is to obtain knowledge of the indoor climate of a building or the components that should be ensured in the building in order to make sure that people would feel comfortable and good in a room. The objective of the subject is to give the student knowledge of the thermal indoor climate and its sub-components, the quality of air - both gaseous pollutants and particles - noise and vibrations, lighting and other components of indoor climate, such as ionisation and electromagnetic waves. Also, knowledge is obtained in the thermal comfort of humans and the exchange of heat between human and the surrounding environment and the factors behind it. The subject teaches students to measure the different components of indoor climate: such as temperature, relative humidity, air flow volume and speeds of ventilation and/or the level of CO2 in a room, and the efficiency of the ventilation in a room.

• Tunneb soojusliku sisekliima komponentide nagu temperatuur ja selle alakomponentide õhutemperatuur, operatiivne temperatuur, kiirguslik temperatuur ja kiirguslik temperatuuri assümeetria, suhteline õhuniiksu ja niiskussisaldus olulisust sisekliima tagamisel ja oskab neid komponente mõõta ja analüüsida. Lisaks teadmised tõmbusest ja seda põhjustavatest teguritest;
• Tunneb peamisi gaasilisi saasteaineid ja peenosakesi, nende tekke põhjuseid ja nendest vabanemise põhimõtteid. Oskab mõõta õhuvoolukiiruseid ja õhuvooluhulkasid;
Tunneb õhuvahetuse skeeme ja teab nende mõju inimese mugavusele;
• Teab müra ja vibratsiooni parameetreid;
• Teab valguse põhiparameetreid;
• Teab elektromagnetväljade ja ionisatsiooni mõju hoone sisekliimale;
• Oskab kirjeldada inimese soojusliku mugavust ja inimese soojusvahetust ümbritseva keskkonnaga;
• Tunneb sisekliima nõudeid.

• Knows the importance of the components of indoor climate, like temperature, and its sub-components like the air temperature, operational temperature, radiant temperature and radiant temperature asymmetry, the relative humidity and moisture content on the maintenance of the indoor climate, and has the necessary skills to measure or analyse these components. They also have the knowledge of draught and the factors causing it.
• Knows the main gaseous pollutants and particles, the reasons for their appearance and the principles of eliminating them. Knows how to measure air flow speeds and volume;
Knows the ventilation air exchange palns and knows their effect on the comfort level of humans;
• Knows the parameters of noise and vibration;
• Knows the main parameters of lighting;
• Knows the effect of electromagnetic fields and ionisation on the internal climate of a building;
• Knows how to describe humans’ thermal comfort and their heat exchange with the surrounding environment
• Knows the requirements of indoor climate.

Õppeaine koosneb teooria poolest ja praktilisest mõõtmiste poolest. Teooria raames käsitletakse teemasid inimese ja keskkonna vahelist soojusvahetust ja soojusliku tasakaalu. Soojusliku mugavust, seda mõjutavaid tegureid: õhutemperatuur, pindade kiirgustemperatuur, operatiivne temperatuur, kiirguslik temperatuuri assümeetria, õhu niiskussisaldus ja suhteline õhuniiskus, õhu liikumine ja tõmbus, õhu kvaliteet, inimese aktiivsus ja riietus. Ebaühtlane soojuskiirgus. Mugavuse indeksid.
Mõõtmiste pooles mõõdavad tudengid õhu temperatuuri, operatiivset temperatuuri, õhu liikumi kiiruseid ja õhuvooluhulkasid. Samuti õhuvahetuse tõhusust ruumis.
Õppeaine raames tuleb tudengitel kirjutada referaat ja sooritada ettekanne ette antud sisekliimaga seotud uurimisteemal. Referaatide ja ettekande tegemiseks tuleb tudengitel läbi töötada teaduspublikatsioone.

The subject is composed of a theoretical side and the practical side of taking measurements. The theory addresses the topics of the exchange of heat between the human body and the environment and thermal balance. Thermal comfort, its impacting factors: the air temperature, the radiant temperature of surfaces, operational temperature, the asymmetry of radiant temperature, the moisture content of air and the relative humidity, the movement of air and draught, the quality of air, the level of human activity and clothing. Uneven heat radiation. Comfort indices.
In the section of taking measurements, the students will measure the temperature of air, operational temperature, the movement speeds of air and the air flow volumes. Also, the efficiency of the exchange of heat in a room.
Students also need to write scientific report and make a presentation on a given topic. Before that it is obligatory to read and analyse several scientific publications.

Tegemist on arvestusega lõppeva õppeainega. Arvestuse saamiseks tuleb tudengitel edukalt sooritada kodutööd, kontrolltööd ja sisekliima mõõtmised. Arvestuse sooritamine ei ole vajalik, kui kontrolltöödega on ületatud seatud lävend.

The subject ends with a pass/fail assessment. In order to pass the subject, the students must complete all the homework, tests and internal climate measurements successfully. Passing the exam is not required, if the set levels have been achieved in the tests.

Kodutööde tegemine iseseisvalt logeriga temperatuuri ja suhtelise õhuniiskuse mõõtmine. Laboratoorsete tööde õhuvooluhulkade mõõtmise teostamine ja vormistamine rühmatööna. Ventilatsiooni lõppelemendi valmistamine ja testimine ventilatsiooni laboris.

Independent homework using a logger to measure temperature and relative humidity. Conducting the laboratory works of the measurement of air flow volumes and formalising it as group works. The construction of a ventilation diffuser and testing it at the ventilation lab.
