Sissejuhatus geoinformaatikasse ja põhiteadmised geoinfosüsteemidest (GIS), eesmärgiga anda ülevaade põhimõistetest, võimalustest ja töövahenditest ruumiandmete haldamiseks, analüüsiks ja esitluseks. Ülevaade õigusloomest, riiklikest registritest ja keskkonnaalastest andmebaasidest Eestis, Euroopa Liidu direktiividest, neis sätestatud aruandluse kohustustest ja andmebaasidest, sh ruumiandmetest. Teadmised ja praktika GIS tarkvaraga keskkonna ruumiandmete analüüsil, mida saab kasutada õpingutes oma eriala aine-, kursuse- ja lõputööde raames tehtaval andmetöötlusel ja tulemuste esitlemisel teemakaartidena. Luuakse eeldus GIS-alaste teadmiste ja oskuste arendamiseks ja valida edaspidi erialaliselt vajalikku sobivat täiendusõpet.

Introduction of geoinformatics and basic knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) in order to provide an overview of the basic concepts, opportunities and tools for managing spatial data, analysis and presentation. Overview of legislation, and national registries, and environmental databases in the Estonia and European Union Directives, as far as the reporting obligations and databases, including spatial data. Knowledge and practice of GIS spatial environment data analysis using GIS software that can be used in course and final thesis for data processing and presentation of results on thematic maps. Establishes a presumption of GIS-related knowledge and skills and to choose appropriate further training.

• Teab geoinformaatika ja GIS põhimõisteid, võimalusi ja töövahendeid ruumiandmete haldamiseks, analüüsiks ja esitluseks
• Omab ülevaadet õigusloomest, riiklikest registritest ja keskkonnaalastest andmebaasidest Eestis, Euroopa Liidu direktiividest, neis sätestatud aruandluse kohustustest ja andmebaasidest, sh ruumiandmetest
• Teab ruumiandmete kvaliteeti mõjutavaid põhitegureid, teab mis on metaandmed, milleks on nad vajalikud
• Oskab kasutada spetsialisti GIS tarkvara järgmiselt :
- lisab asukoha koordinaatidega varustatud uusi andmekihte ja õppejõu poolt etteantud andmekihtidele uus objekte
- selekteerib atribuutpäringut kasutades või otse kaardilt ruumilisi objekte
- kontrollib andmekihtide projektsiooni ja muudab vajadusel
- lõikab ühte kaardikihti teisega ja salvestab uue kaardikihina
- koostab teemakaarte etteantud kaardikihtidest, vormistades väljundi koos legendi, mõõtkava jm vajalikuga erinevates formaatides (pdf, jpeg jt).

* Knows the basic concepts of GIS and geoinformatics, opportunities and tools for managing spatial data, analysis and presentation.
* Has an overview of the legislation, the Estonian national registries and environmental databases in the European Union, as far as the reporting obligations and databases, including spatial data.
* Knows spatial data quality of the fundamental factors affecting knows what metadata is, why they are needed
* is able to use specialist GIS software, as follows:
- Adds the coordinates of the location with new data layers and layers of information given by the teacher for the new items
- Selects spatial objects using attribute queries or directly from the map.
- Checks and changes, if necessary, the projection of data layers.
- Clips one layer with another layer, and stores the new map layer
- Draws up thematic maps arranging the output with the legend, scale, and other necessary, exporting to various formats (PDF, JPEG, etc.).
