Õppeaine eesmärk on anda üliõpilasele teadmised tootmisprotsessi struktuurist ja põhimõistetest, kasutatavatest tehnoloogiatest ja seadmetest, toorikute ja toodete valmistamismeetoditest, lõiketöötlemisprotsessidest, lõikeriistadest, tehnoloogiavahenditest ja tootmisseadmetest ning nende baasil moodustatud tootmissüsteemidest, tehnoloogilise protsessi projekteerimisest ja selle etappidest, marsruuttehnoloogia projekteerimisest, tüüptehnoloogiatest, koostamisest ning anda oskused tehnoloogilise protsessi dokumentatsiooni vormistamiseks.

The aim of this course is is to give students an overview of structure and fundamental concept of production process, methods and machines to produce workpieces and product; tools, machines and machining processes, give an overview of designing of manufacturing process and its stages, operation structure, typical technologies, assembling processes and give knowledge to form documentation about manufacturing process.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- valib lõikeinstrumente ja töötlemismeetodeid;
- kirjeldab ja analüüsib tootmisseadmete tehnoloogilisi võimalusi;
- seadistab ja juhib CNC seadmeid;
- valib toodete valmistamiseks õiged tehnoloogiad ja seadmed;
- analüüsib ja projekteerib tootmissüsteeme;
- projekteerib tehnoloogilisi protsesse.

Tootmisprotsess, struktuur ja põhimõisted. Metallide lõiketöötlemise alused. Lõikeriistade tüübid. Mehaanilised-, elektrilised ja keemilised ning termilised lõiketöötlusmeetodid. Lehtmetalli töötlemine ja seadmed. Plastide töötlemine ja seadmed. Prototüüpide kiirvalmistamise seadmed. Erosioontöötlemise seadmed. Laser-, plasma- ja veejoaga töötlemise seadmed. Abrasiivtöötlemine ja seadmed. Töötlemiskeskused. Treimiskeskused. Töötlemisseadmete tööabinõud ja rakised. Mõõteseadmed. Tootmissüsteemid. Paindtootmissüsteemid. Tehnoloogiline protsessi projekteerimise põhimõtted ja etapid. Täpsus töötlemisel ja koostamisel, töötlemisvead. Tooriku paigaldamine, baaside valiku põhimõtted. Manufacturing process, structure and basic concept. Cutting tools. Cutting tools materials and basics of selection. Mechanical, electrical, chemical and thermal cutting processes. Machine tools, classification. Equipment of sheet metal forming. Forming and shaping equipment of plastics. Rapid prototyping. Advanced machining processes and equipment. Cutting tools to produce round and various shapes. Grinding and finishing machines. Machining centers. Fixtures. Measuring machines. Manufacturing systems. Lean and flexible manufacturing systems.
