Kursuse eesmärgiks on anda õppuritele ettekujutus raalprojekteerimisest nii teoreetiliste teadmiste kui ka praktiliste oskuste kaudu.
Raalprojekteerimissüsteemide kasutuselevõttu on peetud ameerika mehaanikainseneride (ASME) poolt eelmise sajandi üheks tähtsamaks saavutuseks.

The Goal is to give overview of CAD systems in case of practical work and theoretical knowledge.
Discovering of CAD systems is most important event in last century ( by ASME).

Oskab kasutada reaalsete ülesannete lahendamiseks parameetrilisi 3D raalprojekteerimise programmipakette.
Valdab valdkonnas kasutatavat terminoloogiat ja tunneb erinevate alamülesannete lahendamiseks kasutatavate programmipakettide võimalusi.
Loob graafilist ja audio-visuaalset sisu ning oskab kriitiliselt hinnata ja analüüsida loodud tulemust.

Raalprojekteerimise arengulugu, eesmärgid ja süsteemide struktuur, lahendatavad ülesanded. Tootearenduse sisu ja ülesanded, jaotatud insenerindus (tootearendus). Raalprojekteerimissüsteemide koosseis: riistvara, tarkvara, andme- ja teabebaasid, nende valik/realiseerimise põhimõtted. Toodete modelleerimise põhimõtted ja meetodid. Toodete simuleerimine arvutil, virtuaalse reaalsuse kasutamine. Nüüdisaegsete raalprojekteerimissüsteemide iseloomustus (näited). Süsteemide integreerimine. Raalprojekteerimise korraldus ja majanduslik otstarbekus. Praktiline/iseseisev töö rühmatööna: ühe süsteemi kasutamine toote või tema komponentide modelleerimiseks, standardtoodete kasutamiseks, inseneriarvutuste läbiviimiseks jms. Graafikafailide formaadid ja kasutusala, audio-visuaalne sisu ja animatsioonid.

History, goals and structure of CAD systems. Components of CAD/CAM/CAE systems. Basic concepts of graphics programming. Geometric modeling systems. Representation and manipulation of curves. FEM. CAD and CAM Integration. Numerical control. Virtual Engineering. Practical work in Teams: usage of CAD system. Formats of graphical files, audio-visual content and animations.

Eksamile pääsemise eelduseks on praktiliste tööde kaitsmine ja iseseisva töö raames e-õppe kursuse läbimine.
40% koondhindest moodustab kirjaliku eksami tulemus (5 küsimust) ja 60% praktilise töö tulemus.
