Õppeaine eesmärgiks on anda üliõpilasele vajalikud oskused otsustamaks millise parameetri(te) (tootmiskeskne, koostamiskeskne, hinnakeskne, töökindlusekeskne, remonditavusekeskne, keskkonnahoiukeskne jne) põhiselt toodet projekteerida ning kuidas keskenduda ühele või mitmele projekteerimisnõudele tasakaalustatult.

The aim of this course is to give the student the necessary skills to deduce which parameters (Design for manufacturability, -assembly, -price, -reliability, reparability, environmental etc.) are needed to design a product and how to concentrate on either one or multiple designing requirements in balance.

Kursuse sooritanu oskab analüüsida tooteid tootmisvõimaluste, remonditavuse, töökindluse, hinna, kvaliteedi ja keskkonnahoiu seisukohalt, saab aru toote hinna kujunemise mehhanismist projekteerimisel ja oskab juurutada X-keskset projekteerimist ettevõttes.
Tunneb ja oskab kasutada X-keskse projekteerimise metoodikaid.
Oskab projekteerida toote, millel on parim hinna ja kvaliteedi suhe.

• analyse products by its manufacturing possibilities, repairmen, reliability, price, quality and economy efficiency, and can understand the way a product’s price is shaped, and can introduce X-based designing in a company

X-keskse projekteerimise (Design for X) olemus ja areng. Säästlikule tootmisele suunatud projekteerimise põhiprintsiibid. X-keskse projekteerimise juurutamine ja juhtimine ettevõttes. Protsessi valiku ökonoomika. Hinna faktorid. Kulude arvestus.
Tootmis- ja koostamiskeskne projekteerimine (DfMA). Töötlemisprotsessi valik. Protsessi võimalused. Materjalide valik ja grupeerimine protsessipõhistesse klassidesse. Toote projekteerimine käsitsi koostamiseks väikeseeriatootmises ja automaatkoostamiseks masstootmises. Juhised detaili käsitsemiseks. Juhised detaili paigaldamiseks ja kinnitamiseks. Koostamiskeskse projekteerimise metodoloogia. Koostamise efektiivsus. Takerdumiste vältimine koostamisprotsessis. Automatiseeritud koostamine ja robotkoostamine. Detaili kujundamine kiireks etteandmiseks ja orienteerimiseks. Detaili kujundusreeglid automatiseeritud koostamiseks. Toote kujundamine robotkoostamiseks. Inversioonimeetodi olemus ja kasutamine. Konstruktsioonide analüüs lähtuvalt inversioonimeetodist.
Keskkonnakeskne projekteerimine (DfE). Mõista disaineri vastutust keskkonnasäästlike ning jätkusuutlike toodete ja teenusekoosluste loomisel. Anda oskused mõõta ja hinnata tootekoosluste keskkonnamõjusid kogu elukaare ulatuse.
Remondi- ja utiliseerimiskeskne projekteerimine (DfR). Mõista projekteerides ennetavalt elutsükli seda perioodi, kus toode on kasutuses ning vajab hooldust ja remonti ning lõpuks utiliseerimist.

The nature and development of X-based design (Design for X). Main principles of economic production design. Introduction to X-based design and leading it in a company. The economic efficiency of a chosen process. Price factors. Cost accounting.
Design for Manufacturability and assembly (DfMA). The choice of manufacturing process. The opportunities of manufacturing process. The choice of materials and grouping in process based classes. Design for a manual production to be produced in a small production, and automated ones in mass production. Instructions to handling details. Instructions to install and fasten the details.
Design for assembly. Efficiency of assembly process. Avoiding getting stuck in the assembly process. Automated assembly and robot assembly. Designing the detail for a quick rendering and correct positioning. Rules for design for automated process. Designing the product for robot assembly. Nature and usage of the reverse engineering. Analysis of construction on the basis of reverse engineering.
Design for environment (DfE). Understanding the designer’s responsibility in creating environmentally efficient and sustainable products and services. Measuring and assessing the product’s environmental impact throughout its life.
Design for repair and recycling (DfR). Understanding and anticipating the product’s life cycle and the time where it’s in use and needs repairing and care and later utilizing.

Jooksva iseseisva töö hindamine toimub õpikella abil, mis näitab soorituste jooksva mahu protsentides. Iseseisev töö loengumaterjalidega (1/2 õpikella näidust) on mõeldud loenguteks ettevalmistamiseks ja praktiliste ülesannete lahendamiseks.
Ülejäänud iseseisev töö (1/2 õpikella näidust) on mõeldud pöördprojekteerimise meetodi abil toodete analüüsimiseks ning raporti kirjutamiseks. Samuti ettekande vormis esitatava uurimustöö koostamiseks ning esitlemiseks teemadel uudne materjal, tehnoloogia või rakendustarkvara millega on võimalik DfX valdkonnas uuendusi juurutada. Uurimistöö täitmist hinnatakse esitlusel arvestatuks või mittearvestatuks.
Eksamitöö on kirjalik ja selles tuleb vastata 10 lühiküsimusele, mis kontrollivad kursuse oluliste osade mõistmist ja nõutavate oskuste olemasolu vastavalt kirjeldatud õpitulemustele. Eksamile pääseb ainult tooteanalüüsi ja uurimisülesande eduka esitlemise korral.

Independent studies are graded with a Study calendar, which shows the percentage of work completed. Working with lecture notes (half of the Study calendar) is an important part of preparing for further lectures and solving practical tasks. The other half is meant for analysing products using reverse engineering method and writing a report on it, as well as making and presenting a research presentation on the topics of: innovative material, technology or application software, with which it would be possible to introduce updates in the DfX area.

Iseseisva töö maht e-õppe vormis on 80 tundi, millest 1/2 on ette nähtud e-õppe vormis kursuse iseseisvaks. Ülejäänud 1/2 iseseisvast tööst on mõeldud tooteanalüüsi ja uurimustöö sooritamiseks.

The capacity for online studies is 80 lessons, from which half are needed to perform multiple-choice mini sessions and also studying from notes independently. The other half will be used for product analysis and research presentation.
