Anda teadmised geograafilise infosüsteemi liikidest, komponentidest, tehnoloogiatest ning loomise põhimõtetest ja tutvustada enamlevinud GIS rakendusi ning võimalikke kasutusalasid.

Geoinfosüsteemide komponendid, liigid, loomise põhimõtted, kasutatavate andmebaaside liigid. Geoinfosüsteemide kasutusalad ja rakendused. GIS-i tarkvara. Projektsioonid ja andmete transformeerimine. GPS kasutamine GIS-i loomisel, täiendamisel ja täpsustamisel. 3D ruumiandmed, andmemudelid, ruumiandmete töötluse ja analüüsi meetodid.
Võimalikud harjutused:
• GIS teemakaartide koostamine kasutades programmi ArcGIS;
• Veebikaardi loomine ja andmete pilvepõhine analüüs.
• GIS kasutamine planeeringutes.
• Valgala määratlemine ning GIS tööriistad vertikaalplaneerimises
• GIS kasutamine Tallinna kesklinna parkimistsoonide näitel.
• Reaalaja GPS andmete kasutamine Tallinna ühistranspordivõrgu toimimise analüüsiks

Components of GIS, their principles of creating, GIS database specifications. GIS analysis - field of application. GIS software. Cartographic projections and data transformation. Use of GPS by creating, upgrading and specifying of GIS. 3D spatial data, data models, spatial data analyze methods.
Prospective exercises:
Introduction to GIS possibilities based on Tallinn city parking zones; analysis of traffic accidents on public roads and making of thematic maps using ArcGIS software; Analysis of Tallinn city public transport network using real-time GPS data; Creating Web map and cloud based analysis of related base data.
