Aine eesmärk on omandada põhiarusaamad füsioloogilistest mõõtmistest ja ohutusest, baasteadmised biomeditsiiniseadmetest ja nendes seadmetes kasutatavatest anduritest, samuti nende andurite füüsikalistest tööprintsiipidest. Lisaks omandada oskused olulisemate seadmete kasutamiseks ja teadmised nende seadmete eri tüüpidest ning kasutusvaldkondadest meditsiinis.

The aim of this course is to provide a basic understanding of physiological measurements and safety, basic knowledge of biomedical instrumentation and sensors used in these devices, as well as the physical operation principles; to be able to use essential equipment, and to acquire knowledge of different types and areas of use of these equipment in medicine.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kirjeldab ja analüüsib erinevates meditsiinivaldkondades kasutatavat meditsiinitehnikat ja seostab neid inimese füsioloogiliste parameetrite mõõtmisega;
- analüüsib iseseisvalt medtsiinitehnikas kasutatavaid andureid ja tööprintsiipe;
- hindab meditsiiniseadmete ohutust ja nende ohutut kasutamist meditsiiniasutustes;
- väljendab end erialaselt suuliselt ja kirjalikult
- kasutab korrektset erialast sõnavara.

- describes and analyzes the medical techniques used in various medical fields and relates them to the measurement of human physiological parameters;
- independently analyzes sensors and working principles used in medical technology;

- expresses himself orally and in writing professionally
- uses correct professional vocabulary.

Biomeditsiiniseadmete klassifikatsioon ja kasutusalad nüüdisaegses meditsiinis. Meditsiinitehnikas kasutatavate seadmete ülesehitus, andurite tööprintsiibid ja elektriohutus. Elutähtsad parameetrid ning nende registreerimiseks kasutatavad seadmed. Seadmed ning andurid vererõhu, pulsi, hingamise, temperatuuri ja soojusvoo mõõtmiseks. Kasutatavad andurid: elektromagnet-, ultraheli- ja optilised andurid. Südame parameetrid, kopsufunktsioonid, spiromeetria, oksimeetria ja kasutatavad seadmed. Erinevate organite stimuleerimiseks kasutatavad seadmed ja meetodid.

Classification of biomedical instrumentation and fields of use in modern medicine. Structure of devices used in medical technology, operating principles of sensors and electrical safety. Vital parameters and devices used to register them. Devices and sensors for blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature and heat flow measurements. Sensors used: electromagnetic, ultrasonographic and optical sensors. Cardiac parameters, lung functions, spirometry, oxymetry and used devices. Devices and methods used to stimulate different organs.
