Kursuse põhieesmärk on anda üliõpilastele ülevaade väljavalitud kaasaegse krüptograafia teemadest ja nende rakendamisest. Üheks eesmärgiks on õpetada üliõpilasi iseseisvalt lugema ja analüüsima teoreetilise krüptograafia teemalisi teadustöid ning koostama valitud teemadel korrektseid ja arusaadavaid kokkuvõtteid.

The main goal of this course is to give an overview on selected topics of modern cryptography and their applications. One of the goals is to teach students to independently read and analyze scientific papers on theoretical cryptography, as well as to create correct and understandable summaries on selected topics.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kasutab korrektselt postkvantarhitektuuri krüptograafia terminoloogiat;
- selgitab ja analüüsib üleminekuprotsessiga seotud väljakutseid postkvantkrüptograafiale;
- selgitab ja analüüsib olulisemaid postkvantkrüptograafia skeeme;
- tuvastab turvaprobleeme, mis võivad tekkida krüptograafiliste primitiivide ebaõige rakendamise korral, mida kursusel käsitleti;
- analüüsib postkvantkrüptograafia teaduskirjandust;
- esitab ja jagab omandatud teadmisi kirjalikus vormis.

Upon completion of this course, a student should be able to:
- accurately use post-quantum cryptography terminology;
- explain and analyse challenges of migration process to post-quantum cryptography;
- explain and analyze the most important post-quantum cryptography schemes;
- identify the security problems that arise in case of incorrect instantiation of cryptographic primitives
studied during the course;
- analyze academic literature on post-quantum cryptography;
- present and share learned material in written format.

Tundides käsitletavad teemad varieeruvad igal semestril. Enamasti on need keskendunud esoteerilisele krüptograafiale, krüptoprotokollidele, hajutatud pearaamatutele ja postkvantkrüptograafiale.

Topics covered in class varie every semester. Mostly they are focused on esoteric cryptography, cryptographic protocols, distributed ledgers and post-quantum cryptography.
