Aine eesmärk on tutvustada üliõpilastele eriala, tööandjate esindajaid ja erialast töökeskkonda, saada vajalikud oskused hakkamasaamiseks järgnevates erialaainetes ja anda kogemus meeskonnatöö organiseerimisest.

The aim of this course is to give an overview of the speciality, introduce the representatives of employers and work environment, give needed general skills to be prepared for the courses of the curricula, give an experience of organising a teamwork.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- mõistab ja seostab õpitavat eriala;
- kirjeldab ja võrdleb iseseisvalt tarkvaraarenduse ja informaatikaga seonduvaid ameteid, tööülesandeid ja rolli suuremas kontekstis;
- planeerib, arendab ja juhib oma õppeprotsessi;
- organiseerib meeskonnatööd, suudab koostada meeskonna tööplaani, juhtida meeskonda ja osaleda meeskonna tegevuses ning rakendada õpitut erinevates meeskondades.

A student who has completed the course:
- understands and relates the studied field;
- independently describes and compares professions, tasks, and roles related to software development and informatics in a broader context;
- plans, develops, and manages their learning process;
- organizes teamwork, is able to create a team work plan, lead the team, participate in team activities, and apply what they have learned in various teams.

Kursusel osalevad tudengid jagatakse väikestesse gruppidesse ja enamus ülesandeid tehakse gruppidena. Kursus toimub seminaride ja praktikumide vormis, kus tehakse esitlusi ja arutatakse saadud materjalide ja ülesannete täitmisel esilekerkinud teemadel. Kursusel raames külastatakse tarkvaraarenduse valdkonnas tegutsevaid ettevõtteid, tutvutakse õppimist ja ajahaldust aitavate meetodite ja tehniliste vahenditega. Iga grupp peab kursuse jooksul realiseerima prototüübi projekti, mille käigus õpitakse meeskonnatöö organiseerimist.

The students are divided into small groups and most of the tasks are done in groups. The main format of the course is seminaries and practical lessons, where the presentations are made, occurred problems discussed. Studying and time management methods and helping tools are introduced also. Each group has to realize a prototype project where teamwork organisation is practiced.
