Aine eesmärk on:
- koostada koostöös juhendajaga magistritöö mahu nõuetele vastav uurimis-arendustöö plaan;
- demonstreerida teemakohase teadusliku ja tehnilise kirjanduses kasutamise oskust kirjalikus vormis, kasutades lõputöö malli;
- koostada vähemalt 30% lõputöö jaoks vajalikust tööst ja plaa nning ajakava täiendavateks tegevusteks.

The aim of this course is to:
- in collaboration with a supervisor formulate a plan of a research and development project that corresponds to the amount of work required for an MSc thesis;
- demonstrate proficiency in finding related technical and scientific literature and writing up a summary using the provided thesis template;
- complete at least 30% of the work required for a thesis and make a plan and a schedule for further actions.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- väljendab ennast eriala piires kirjalikult asjakohaselt;
- koostab koostöös juhendajaga magistritöö plaani ja tegevuste ajakava;
- kirjutab teemakohast teaduslikku ja tehnilist kirjandust kasutades 30% magistritöö mahus tehnilist teksti, mis vastab lõputöö sisulistele ning vormistuslikele nõuetele;
- on allikakriitiline ja viitab kasutatud kirjendust korrektselt.

After completing this course, the student:
- expresses his/herself professionally in writing;
- compiles in collaboration with the supervisor a plan and schedule for actions to complete the thesis project;
- writes text that constitutes 30% of final thesis according to the regulations and templates for formatting the thesis and using appropriate scientific and technical literature;
- weighs the appropriateness of sources and cites used literature correctly.

Käesolev aine on magistritöö esimene samm koostöös juhendajaga, mille käigus defineeritakse magistritöö plaan, tegevuste ajakava ja koostatakse asjakohase tehnilise ning teadusliku kirjanduse ülevaade. Töö käib koostöös ja kokkuleppel juhendajaga, kasutades selleks regulaarseid kokkusaamisi.

The work done within the current subject constitutes the first step of the final MSc thesis by defining the plan and schedule of the MSc thesis and writing up the literature review that is based on scientific and technical sources. The work is carried out in collaboration and in agreement with the supervisor using regular meetings.
