VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Aine eesmärk on anda ülevaade põhilistest geodünaamilistest prosessidest ja Maa struktuuridest, nende moodustumisest ning omavahelistest seostest koos tänapäevaste algteadmistega geoloogilisest kaardistamisest, sellealastest uuringumeetoditest praktiliste käsikirjaliste ja GIS ülesannete lahendamise kaudu.
course aims in English
The aim of this course is to give overview of main geodynamic processes and structures of the Earth, the evolution of structural formations and understanding of geological processes responsible for geological structures, basics of geological mapping and the methods implemented in the creating of maps using raw data and GIS techniques.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- eristab ja seostab põhilisi geodünaamilisi tsükleid praegu ja planeedi ajaloos;
- on suuteline klassifitseerima põhilisi maakoore struktuure;
- hindab kriitiliselt ja süstematiseerib geoloogiliste struktuuride teket põhjustavaid geodünaamilisi protsesse;
- oskab laiendada, hinnata, eristada ja praktiliselt kasutada geoloogilisel kaardistamisel kasutatavaid meetodeid;
- oskab eristada, süstematiseerida ja kriitiliselt hinnata informatsiooni (välipäevikud, tehnilised vahendid ning elektrooniline informatsiooni talletamine) ja seda sünteesida (esitada kavandeid, struktuurseid jooniseid jms);
- on suuteline planeerima, organiseerima ja läbi viima väliuuringuid erinevates geoloogilistes tingimustes ja geotektoonilistel aladel (Eesti ala, Fennoscandia kristalse kilbi ala).
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
Upon completing the course, the student:
- distinguishes and correlates the main geodynamic cycles currently and in the geological past; can classify structures of the Earth's crust;
- is capable of critically assessing and systematizing geodynamic processes that lead to the formation of geological structures;
- can expand, assess, differentiate, and practically apply methods used in geological mapping;
- can differentiate, systematize, and critically assess information (field notes, technical equipment, and electronic data storage) and synthesize (present sketches, structural schemes, etc.);
- is able to plan, organize, and conduct field surveys in various geological conditions and geotectonic regions (Estonian territory, Fennoscandian shield area).
