Aine eemsärk on luua tingimused omandamaks:
- ülevaadet maavarade otsimist, kaevandamist ja rikastamist hõlmavatest tehnoloogiatest ning nende arengusuundadest;
- oskusi tehniliselt sobivate ja majanduslikult tasuvate protsesside kasutuselevõtmisel;
- teadmisi teineteisega sobivate mäemasinate kooslustest ja nende valiku printsiipidest.

The aim of this course is to:
- deliver an overview of the technologies involved in the search, extraction and beneficiation of mineral resources and their development trends;
- develop skills in adopting technically suitable and economically viable processes;
- increase the knowledge of the combinations of compatible mining machines and the principles of their selection.

Õppeaine läbinud üliõpilane:
- eristab erinevaid ava- ja allmaakaevandamise tehnoloogiaid;
- koostab andmetabeleid, teeb geoloogilisi läbilõikeid;
- arvutab mäemasinate tootlikust;
- teab masinate kooslusi ja koostab tehnoloogilisi skeeme;
- teeb mahuarvutusi, arvutab ja analüüsib kaevandamiskulu ja toodangu omahinda.

- distinguish between different open pit and underground mining technologies;
- prepare data tables and make geological cross-sections;
- calculate the productivity of mining machines;
- develop mining machine combinations and prepare technological diagrams;
