Anda üldine sissejuhatus geenitehnoloogias ja geneetikas kasutavatest meetoditest ning uuritavatest probleemidest.
Aines räägitakse: i) geenitehnoloogia ajaloost; ii) geenidest, geneetikast ja genoomikast; iii) molekulaar- ja rakubioloogia põhimõistetest; iv) biokeemiast; v) viroloogiast ja mikrobioloogiast; vi) üldistest laboratoorsetest meetoditest ja transgeensetest organismidest.
Õppeaine alguses korratakse üle ka gümnaasiumi bioloogia programmis õpitu, mis puudutab geneetikat ja geenitehnoloogiat
brief description of the course in English
The aim of the course is to give students introduction about methods and research challenges in gene technology and genetics.
The course covers: i) history of gene technology, ii) genes, genetics and genomics, iii) basics of molecular and cell biology, iv) biochemistry, v) virology and microbiology, vi) general laboratory methods and transgenic organisms.
At the beginning of the course there is recap of upper secondary school level biology that is related to gene technology.
