Arendada välja mehhanotehnika insenerile vajalikud:
• algteadmised ning arusaamine üldmasinaelementide funktsioonidest ja konstruktsioonist, nende kujundamise ja valiku metoodikatest ning töökindluse tagamise tehnilistest põhimõtetest,
• oskused rakendada neid teadmisi praktiliste konstrueerimisülesannete lahendamisel.

• basic knowledge and understanding of general-purpose machine elements' functioning and structure, of general methods of their selecting and design along with reliability assurance engineering principles,
• skills to implement the knowledge above in solving of practical design problems.

Õppeaine positiivse tulemusega sooritanud üliõpilane:
• tunneb masinaelementide terminoloogiat, süstemaatikat ning kasutusalasid,
• tunneb üldmasinaelementide konstrueerimise, valiku ja integreerimise üldmetodoloogiat;
• mõistab üldmasinaelementides tööolukorras toimivate mõjurite poolt tekitatud füüsikalisi protsesse ja tõrgete enamlevinud põhjusi;
• mõistab ja oskab optimaalselt sätestada masinaelementide täpsusnõudeid;
• oskab arvutustega põhjendatult üldmasinaelemente valida ja konstrueerida;
• oskab lugeda ja koostada üldmasinaelementide tööjooniseid neid optimaalselt mõõtmestada ja tolereerida;
• oskab suhestada masinate ja seadmete töökindlust mõjutavate parameetrite toimet ning pakkuda lahendusteid konstruktsioonide optimeerimiseks.

The student who has accomplished the course with a positive result:
• knows machine elements related terminology, systematics and areas of use;
• knows general methodology of standard machine elements design, selecting and integration;

• understands the physical phenomena acting in standard machine elements in work conditions and the common failure causes;
• understands and is able to define optimum requirements to machine elements precision;
• is able to calculate and reason the design and selection of standard machine elements;
• is able to read and compose machine elements drawings and to apply reasonable dimensioning and tolerancing;
• understands the influence of design criteria on machinery’ reliability and is able to suggest solutions for design optimisation.

Seondliited: tihvt-, neet-, liist-, hammas- ja profiilliited. Hõõrdliited: press-, koonus- ja klemmliited. Sidurid. Masinaelementide mehaaniline kontakt: hõõrdumine, kulumine ja määrimine. Liugelaagerdused. Veerelaagerdused. Teljed ja võllid. Hammasülekanded. Rihm- ja kettülekanded. Vedrud.

Types of machine elements, fundamentals of machine design and sustainability. Interchangeability and precision of machine elements. Threaded joints. Welded, glued and soldered joints. Pinned, riveted, keyed, splined and profile joints. Pressed, tapered and clamp joints. Couplings. Mechanical contact of machine elements: friction, wear and lubrication.Sliding supports. Rolling supports. Shafts and axles. Gear transmissions. Belt and chain drives. Springs.

Iseseisva töö eesmärgid:
• kinnistada auditoorselt läbivõetud materjali iseseisva mõtestatud tegevusega,
• omandada vilumusi masinaelelmentide praktilise konstrueerimise ja kataloogidest valiku ülesannete lahendamisel,
• omandada vilumusi insneritegevuse kirjalike aruannete ja kokkuvõtete koostamisel ja vormistamisel.
Iseseisva töö sisu ja maht:
• kuus (6) kodutööd kursuse erinevatel teemadel – 52 tundi,
• ettevalmistus eksamiks – 24 tundi.

• to deepen the knowledge developed in lectures and seminars by individual analysis work,
• to develop skills of solving practical problems of machine elelments design and selecting from catalogues,
• to develop skills of composing written engineering reports and astracts,
Content and volume of individual work:
• six (6) homeworks on different course topics – 52 hours,
• preparation for written test – 24 hours.
