Anda baasteadmised geoloogiliste protsesside ja nähtuste mõjust kaevandamisele. Anda põhiteadmised insenerigeoloogilistest töödest, pinnaste tüüpidest ja omadustest, deformatsioonidest ja peamistest insenerigeoloogilistest protsessidest. Anda ettekujutus pinnaste ja kivimite tugevusest ning neis tekkivatest pingetest. Õpetada praktilist lähenemist erinevate olukordade ja ülesannete lahendamisel, arvestades geoloogilisi tingimusi.

Give basic knowledge of influences of geological processes to mining and rock engineering. Give basic knowledge of engineering geology, types and properties, soil subsidence and deformations. Give knowledge of rock and soil strength and tensions in rock and soil. Give knowledge and skills for solving different mining and rock engineering problems concerning geological structures and conditions. Give knowledge about rock pressure and stability of different geological structures.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
• Teab peamisi insenerigeoloogilisi töid ja uuringuid, pinnaste tüüpe ja nende omadusi, teab peamisi insenerigeoloogilisi protsesse ja põhjusi, miks pinnastes tekivad deformatsioonid.
• Oskab arvutada nõlvade stabiilsust ja pinnaste kandevõimet,;
• Teab insenerigeoloogiliste uuringute meetodeid ja oskab neid kasutada välitöödel ja testides.
• Omab ettekujutust pingetest ja deformatsioonidest pinnastes ja kivimites, nende tekke põhjustest, kivimite püsivuse arvutamise meetoditest, ehitiste vajumisest ja geoloogiliste struktuuride tugevdamise meetoditest
• Teab peamisi mäerõhu teooriaid ning oskab neid erinevates olukordades rakendada.

Upon completing the course student:
• Knows main engineering geological research fields, types and properties of soils, main engineering geology processes and causes of deformations in soils.
• Can calculate slope stability and load-bearing capability of soils
• Knows methods of engineering geology researches and can implement them in field and laboratory tests
• Has knowledge of stresses and deformations in soils and rocks, their causes. Knowledge of soil and rock stability, structure subsidence calculations, methods of strengthening geological structures;
• Knows main rock pressure theories and can implement them in different mining conditions.

Geodünaamilised protsessid. Endogeensed, eksogeensed ja antropogeensed protsessid.
Geotehniline pinnaste liigitamine. Kaljused-, purd- ja savipinnased, nende liigitus ning füüsikalis-mehaanilised, vesi- ja tehnilised omadused.
Insenergeoloogilised protsessid. Geotehnilised uuringud ja uurimismeetodid. Geotehniline projekteerimine. Pinged pinnastes ja nende määramine. Vajumisarvutused. Pinnaste tugevdamise meetodid. Tugiseinad. Nõlvade stabiilsus ja tugevdamine. Geovõrgud, järelvaatlused. Geotehniline kontroll.
Väliuuringute meetodid.
Kivim ja kivimimassiiv kui anisotroopne keskkond. Mäemassiivi ehitus ja omadused.
Mäerõhk, selle avaldumine ja arvutused. Kivimite elastne deformeeritavus, roomavus ja purunemine. Kivimite purunemise ja purustamise teooriad.
Mäerõhk. Mäerõhu teooriad ja arvutused. Lagede ja tervikute arvutused. Mäerõhu modelleerimine ja selle rakendused mäetööstuses.

Geotechnical classification of rocks and soils.
Geotechnical researches and research methods. Geotechnical design.
Stresses and deformations in soils and rocks. Stress and subsidence calculations. Methods of soil strengthening. Stability and strengthening of slopes. Geogrids. Monitoring methods. Geotechnical control.
Field and laboratory tests methodology.
Rock massive as anisotropic environment. Elastic deformations, crawling and breakage of rocks. Theories of rock breaking and breakage.
Rock pressure. Theories and calculations of rock pressure. Roof and pillars calculations. Rock pressure modelling and its implementations in mining industry
