VERSION SPECIFIC DATA
course aims in Estonian
Kursuse eesmärgiks on rakendada atmosfäärifüüsika ning geofüüsikalise vedelike dünaamika teadmisi ilma ja prognooskaartide interpreteerimise praktilises valdkonnas ning luua kontseptuaalsete mudelite abil aluspõhi sünoptilise olukorra ja mudelprognooside väljundi hindamiseks.
course aims in English
The course aims to apply the knowledge of atmospheric physics and geophysical fluid dynamics in the practical field of interpretation of weather observation and forecast maps and develop basis for assessment of synoptic situation and numerical weather prediction model output using conceptual models.
learning outcomes in the course in Est.
Kursuse läbinu on võimeline iseseisvalt analüüsima meteoroloogilisi kaarte, omab baasteadmisi sünoptilise olukorra interpretatsiooniks ning suudab koostada lühiajalisi prognoose. Tudeng on tuttav operatiivmeteoroloogi töö praktiliste aspektidega ning omab piisavat ettevalmistust, et läbida süvendatud täiendõpet praktiseeriva operatiivmeteoroloogi töökohal või on valmis süvenenud spetsialiseerumiseks meteoroloogia valdkonnas doktorantuuris.
learning outcomes in the course in Eng.
The student has the skill of analysis of meteorological maps, has basic knowledge for interpretation of synoptic weather situation and can provide short range forecasts. The student is acquainted with practical aspects of work of duty forecaster and has sufficient background to pass additional training at workplace of the duty forecaster or is ready to further specialize in meteorology for PhD studies.
brief description of the course in Estonian
brief description of the course in English
The course describes analysis and interpretation methods of meteorological information (weather observation and forecast maps) and conceptual models for the interpretation of this information are introduced. In addition, the course introduces the practical aspects of work of the duty forecaster (including aviation).
