The students will have necessary knowledge and skills for exploiting remote sensing data for monitoring of natural waterbodies. Student will have the skills to analyze the remote sensing data and associate it with information retrieved from contact measurements and modelled fields.

Kiirguslevi atmosfääris ja meres sõltuvalt keskkonna optilistest ja füüsikalistes omadustest. Merevee optiliste omaduste (neeldumine, hajumine jne) seostamine veekvaliteedi parameetritega; Aktiivsete (radar) ja passiivsete (optiline) kaugseiremeetodite alused. Matemaatilised ja statistilised meetodid biogeofüüsikaliste väljade arvutamiseks kaugseire andmetest (satelliit, droon, lennuk, kaldaradar). Kaugseire andmete töötlusalgoritmide arendamine ja nende kasutamine mere(keskkonna) seires.

Radiative transfer in the atmosphere and ocean; Relating the optical properties (absorption, scattering etc.) of a water body with water quality parameters; Basic principles of active (radar) and passive (optical) remote sensing; Implementation of mathematical and statistical methods for retrieval of geobiophysical fields from remote sensing data (satellite, airborne sensors, drones, coastal radars); Development of remote sensing algorithms for their exploitation in marine environment monitoring.

4 kaugseire andmete töötlemise ja analüüsi ülesannet kasutades satelliitpiltide töötlemise toolbox’i (SNAP) ja levinud programmerimis keeli (Python, Mathlab). Tuginedes teadus artiklitele teha seminari ettekanne kaugseire andmete töötluse ja analüüsi teemal.

4 exercises on satellite image processing and analysis using dedicated toolboxes (SNAP) and common computer languages (Python, Mathlab). Seminar presentation on image processing method and data analysis based on the scientific publications.
