- eesti üldisest geoloogilisest ehitusest ja suuremate Eesti linnade ehitusgeoloogilistest tingimustest.
- geotehniliste uuringute liikidest ja meetoditest.
- pinnase omadustest ja omaduste näitarvude määramise ning hindamise meetoditest.
- vee mõjust pinnase käitumisele.
- pingejaotusest pinnasemassiivis.
- vundamendi vajumi ja vajumise ajalise kulgemise prognoosimise teoreetilistest alustest ja arvutusmeetoditest.
- vundamendi kandevõime määramise meetoditest.
- nõlva püsivuse kontrollimise meetoditest.
- pinnase survest piiretele, tugiseinte projekteerimise põhimõtetest.

- the genesis and types of soils.
- estonian geology and geotechnical situations in the main towns.
- types and matter of the geotechnical investigations.
- the soil properties and the methods of determination and evaluation of geotechnical parameters.
- the impact of ground water on the behavior of soil.
- the stress-distribution in ground.
- the theory and methods of prediction the settlement and rate of settlement of foundations.
- the methods of assessment the bearing capacity of foundations
- the methods of verifying the stability of slopes.
- determination of earth pressures, principles of design the retaining structures.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane oskab:
- määrata peamisi pinnaseomadusi;
- kasutada pinnase tunnusomaduste vahelisi seoseid;
- määrata pingeid pinnases nii pinnase omakaalust, kohalikust koormusest kui vee liikumisest;
- prognoosida vundamendi vajumit ja vajumise ajalist kulgu;
- määrata vundamendi piirkandevõimet;
- kontrollida nõlva püsivust;
- määrata aktiiv- ja passiivsurve suurust;
- oskama arvutada tugiseinu.

Student having completed the course is able to:
- determine the main soil properties;
- use the relationships between index properties of soils;
- determine stresses in soil from self weight, from applied loads and seepage forces;
- predict the settlement of foundations and rate of settlement;
- determine the ultimate bearing capacity of foundations;
- check the stability of slopes;
- evaluate the active and passive pressure;
- calculation of retaining structures.

Ehitusgeoloogia olemus. Geokronoloogia. Ehitusgeoloogilised protsessid ja kalju ning pinnase kujunemine. Kivimite liigitus. Eesti ehitusgeoloogiline iseloomustus ja peamised pinnasetüübid. Ehitusgeoloogilised uuringud. Pinnase tüübid ja koostisosad. Pinnase omadused ja liigitus. Vee mõju pinnase käitumisele. Vee voolamine ja hüdrodünaamilised jõud. Pinnase külmumisega seotud nähtused. Poorivee surve ja efektiivpinge. Pingete jaotus pinnases. Geostaatilised pinged. Boussinesq' lahendus. Pinged ribakoormuse all. Pinnase ebaühtluse ja anisotroopsuse mõju pingejaotusele. Nature of engineering geology. Geochronology. Engineering geological processes and forming of rock and soil. Classification of rock. The engineering geological characterization of Estonian territory, main types of soils. Subsurface explorations. Soil types and its constituents. Soil properties and classification. Effect of water on the behaviour of soil. Flow of water and seepage forces. Freezing . Pore pressure and effective stress Stresses in a soil mass. Geostatic stresses. Boussinesq' solution. Stresses under strip load. Influence of inhomogeneity and anisotropy on the stress distribution. Stress distribution under rigid footing.. Stress-strain behavior of soils and calculation of settlement. Consolidation theory. Bearing capacity of foundation. Stability of slopes. Method of slices. Bishop's method. Lateral earth pressure.
