Õppeaine eesmärk on arendada õppija võimekust analüüsida transpordi funktsioone ja strateegilist rolli tarneahelas, hinnata transpordiprotsesside mõju tarneahela tulemuslikkusele, kestlikkusele ja innovatsioonile ning põhjendada oma seisukohti akadeemilises ja praktilises kontekstis.

The aim of the course is to develop the learner’s ability to analyse the functions and strategic role of transport in the supply chain, assess the impact of transport processes on supply chain performance, sustainability, and innovation, and justify their viewpoints in academic and practical contexts.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- seostab transpordilogistika ülesandeid tarneahela toimimisega ning põhjendab nende mõju erialastes aruteludes;
- hindab nõudluse ja pakkumise vahekorda veoturul ning põhjendab oma järeldusi erinevatele sihtrühmadele;
- valib etteantud tingimustes optimaalse veo terviklahenduse, kaalub alternatiive ning põhjendab oma valikut selgelt ja struktureeritult;
- kujundab veovajadusest lähtuva veoahela, valib sobivad veoviisid ning suhtleb tõhusalt partnerite ja sidusrühmadega;
- juhib veoprotsessi, arvestades transpordisüsteemi kitsendusi ning esitab olukorrale sobivad lahendused selgelt ja arusaadavalt;
- kujundab transpordisüsteemi, tuvastab selle kitsaskohad ning pakub põhjendatud lahendusi nende kõrvaldamiseks.

- links the tasks of transport logistics to the functioning of the supply chain and justifies their impact in professional discussions.
- evaluates the balance between supply and demand in the transport market and justifies conclusions for different target groups.
- selects an optimal end-to-end transport solution under given conditions, considers alternatives, and justifies the choice clearly and in a structured manner.
- designs a transport chain based on transport needs, selects appropriate modes of transport, and communicates effectively with partners and stakeholders.
- manages the transport process while considering the constraints of the transport system and presents suitable solutions clearly and understandably.
- designs a transport system, identifies its bottlenecks, and proposes well-reasoned solutions to eliminate them.

Iseseisev töö õppematerjalidega. Ettevõttekülastused. Õppejõu poolt jaotatavad ülesanded, kaasused ja/või artiklid. Kursuse jooksul kahe kohustusliku grupitöö tegemine (mereveoahela meeskondlik optimeerimine; teadusartikli meeskondlik analüüs ja posterettekanne). Seminaritöö koostamine toimub vastavalt juhendmaterjalidele, põhiosa maht 20-25 lehte arvestamata tiitellehte, sissejuhatust, kokkuvõtet ja lisasid. Seminaritöö kuulub suulisele kaitsmisele viimastel kontaktkohtumistel seminarides (pikkus maksimaalselt 12-15 minutit).

Independent work with study materials. Company visits. Assignments, case studies, and/or articles provided by the lecturer. Completion of two mandatory group assignments during the course (team optimization of a maritime transport chain; team analysis of a scientific article and poster presentation).
The seminar paper is prepared according to the guidelines; the main body should be 20–25 pages, excluding the title page, introduction, conclusion, and appendices. The seminar paper is subject to an oral defence during the final seminar sessions (maximum length 12–15 minutes).
