The course aims at giving comprehensive overview of legal theory and legal practice in constitutional law.

Aine edukalt läbinud üliõpilane:
-selgitab riigiõiguse üldiseid põhimõtteid, sealhulgas põhiseaduse aluspõhimõtteid, põhiõiguste ja vabaduste olemust ning riigi organisatsiooni;
- rakendab riigiõiguse üldiseid põhimõtteid üksikjuhtumiste lahendmaisel ja seisukohtade kujundamisel.

After successfully passing the subject the student:
- explains the general principles of constitutional law, including the basic principles, the essence of general rights and freedoms, and the organisation of a state;
- applies general principles of constitutional law to the individual cases and in creating a position or statement.

Riigiõiguse teoreetilised alused, põhiseaduse olemus siseriiklikus ja rahvusvahelises kontekstis. Inglisekeelsel kursusel käsitletakse põhiseadusõigust üldisemas käsitluses, kasutades näidetena erinevate riikide põhiseadusi. eesti keelsel kursusel käsitletakse Eesti põhiseadust.

Theoretical basis for constitutional law, the essence of constitution in internal and international context. In english course the constitutional law is dealt more general, by using the examples of constitutions of different states. In Estonian course Estonian constitution is dealt.

Õppeaine käigus antakse üliõpilastele jooksvalt iseseisvaid töid nii kodus kui ka klassiruumis lahendamiseks, mille eesmärgiks on aidata kaasa aine omandamisele ning hinnata omandatud oskusi.

During the course students shall be given individual assignments and tests in the class and also take home exercises. The aim is to increase the knowledge of the topics of the course and to assess the acquired skills.
