Õppeaine eesmärk on anda teadmisi makromajanduse toimimise üldistest seaduspärasustest ja mehhanismidest, peamistest makromajandusnäitajatest ja -protsessidest ning makromajanduspoliitika rollist majandusarengute kujundamisel.

Õppeaines käsitletakse makromajanduse põhimõisteid ja toimimismehhanisme. Vaadeldakse peamisi makromajandusnäitajaid, majandustsükleid, kogunõudlust ja kogupakkumist, kaupade ja raha turgu, pangandust ja finantssüsteemi, maksebilanssi ja vahetuskursse, tööhõivet ja töötust, inflatsiooni ja Phillipsi kõverat, eelarve- ja rahapoliitikat, riigieelarvet ning pikaajalise majanduskasvu tegureid.

This course introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of macroeconomics. It covers key macroeconomic indicators, economic cycles, aggregate demand and aggregate supply, the goods and money markets, banking and the financial system, balance of payments and exchange rates, employment and unemployment, inflation and the Phillips curve, fiscal and monetary policy, the state budget, and the determinants of long-run economic growth.
