By the end of the course a student is aware of characteristic features of an academic vocabulary and is able to follow the principles while creating different types of academic texts; is able to take notes and summarize the information of reading / listening texts; knows basic reading strategies and is able to apply them for understanding different types of academic texts; is able to prepare and give presentations on current issues, analyse presentations and give feedback to fellow students.

Characteristic features of academic vocabulary. Writing short academic texts: descriptions and summaries. Listening to lecture extracts and taking notes. Reading academic texts and applying different reading strategies. Discussions: responding to listening and reading texts. Preparing and giving short presentations.
