The aim of this course is to deepen the knowledge about the possibilities of using economic models in the analysis of macroeconomic processes.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- omab süsteemset ülevaadet erinevate makromajanduse mudelite omavahelistest seostest;
- eristab eri mudelitest tulenevaid järeldusi;
- suhestab makromajanduses toimuvaid protsesse majandusmudelitega;
- saab aru empiirilistest uurimistöödest ja artiklitest makroökonoomika kohta ning oskab nende üle arutleda;
- kogub ja analüüsib oskab majandusalast informatsiooni;
- diskuteerib makromajanduslikel teemadel ja põhjendab oma seisukohti.

After completing this course the student:
- has a systematic overview of interrelations between different macroeconomic models;
- distinguishes conclusions drawn from different models;
- relates real-world macroeconomic processes to macromodels;
- reads empirical contributions within macroeconomics and discusses the literature;
- collects and analyses economic information;
- discusses macroeconomic problems and to defends his/her views.

Majanduskasv; Solow kasvumudel; turu toimimine; tarbimine, säästmine ja investeerimine; majandustsüklite tasakaalumudel; kapitali kasutamine ja töötus; inflatsioon, raha kasv ja intressimäärad; valitsuse kulutused.

Economic growth; Solow growth model; market functioning; consumption, saving and investment; an equilibrium business-cycle model; capital utilization and unemployment; inflation, money growth and interest rates; government expenditure.

Lõpphinne kujuneb järgnevalt: Moodle'i testid (7%), kontrolltöö (23%), makronäitaja analüüs (20%), eksam (50%). Õppeaine loetakse positiivselt sooritatuks, kui üliõpilane on tervikuna kogunud vähemalt 51 punkti. Eksamile mitte ilmumise korral üliõpilane lõpphindamisele ei pääse ning tulemuseks on „mitteilmunud“ („MI“).

The final grade is composed of the following: Moodle tests (7%), written test (23%), macro indicator analysis (20%), exam (50%). The student has passed the course if he/she has received at least 51 points. If the student does not show up for the exam, the final result of the course will be “not attended” (“MI”).
