Luua võimalused teadmiste kujunemiseks masinates ja konstruktsioonides tekkivate jõudude kohta, mehaanikaliste süsteemide tasakaalust ja masinates kasutatavatest mehhanismidest.
Luua võimalused liikumise probleemide lahendamiseks vajalike oskuste kujunemiseks.
Luua võimalused teadmiste kujunemiseks masinates ja konstruktsioonides kasutatavate materjalide omaduste kohta.
Luua eeldused konstruktsioonielementide tugevus- ja jäikusarvutuste tegemise oskuste kujunemiseks.
Luua võimalused teadmiste kujunemiseks masinaelementide ja moodulite kohta, nende valiku ja arvutuse põhimõtetest ning töökindluse tagamiseks.
course aims in English
To present a systematic course of statics and kinematics. To provide knowledge about dynamics, i.e., the interaction of forces and motion.
To develop basic knowledge needed for mechanical engineer of:
general principles of mechanical behaviour and strength of loaded bodies, and strength of components under combined loadings.
To develop basic knowledge of the general-purpose machine elements' functioning and structure, of general methods of their choice and design along with reliability assurance engineering principles.

Üliõpilane
- oskab tasakaalustada staatikaga määratavaid konstruktsioonielemente ja leida toereaktsioone;
- tunneb mehaanikalise süsteemi liikumise põhikarakteristikuid ja masinates kasutatavaid mehhanisme;
- oskab arvutada lihtsamate staatikaga määratud detailide mõõtmeid ning kontrollida tugevust;
- tunneb masinaelementide ja -detailide kasutusalasid ning detailide konstrueerimise üldmetodoloogiat;
- oskab valida ja/või projekteerida lihtsamaid masinadetaile, - elemente ja liiteid;
- tunneb ülekannete konstrueerimise aluseid ning mehhanismide ja sõlmede määrimist;
- oskab lugeda detailide ja koostude tehnilisi jooniseid.

Having successfully passed the course, the student
- has an overview on the theoretical basis and typical problems of statics, kinematics and dynamics,
- understands the physical phenomena of loaded bodies,
- is able to analyse internal forces present in basic types of load cases and formulate strength formulae,
- is able to use strength formulae in order to calculate components' dimensions, allowable loads and check the strength,
- understands the physical phenomena in joints, shafts and axles, bearings and springs, drives and mechanisms.

Jõud. Sidemete reaktsioonid. Jõudude geomeetriline ja analüütiline liitmine. Jõu moment punkti ja telje suhtes. Jõusüsteemi tasakaal. Punkti liikumisvõrrandid, kiirus ja kiirendus. Jäiga keha ja kehade süsteemi tasapinnaline liikumine. Masspunkti dünaamika: mass, Newtoni seadused, liikumisvõrrandid, liikumishulga moment. Jäiga keha dünaamika: jäiga keha pöörlemine ümber kinnistelje, inertsimomendid, jäiga keha tasapinnaline liikumine, jäiga keha ruumiline liikumine. Töö ja energia: võimsus ja töö, kineetiline energia, konservatiivsed jõud, energia jäävus.
Detailide tugevus tõmbel ja survel. Detailide tugevus väändel. Liidete tugevus lõikel. Detaili sisepinna omadused. Detailide tugevus paindel. Detailide pikkedeformatsioonid. Detailide väändedeformatsioonid. Detailide paindedeformatsioonid.
Üldotstarbeliste masinadetailide konstrueerimine: liited, teljed-võllid, laagrid, vedrud, jne. Mehhanismide ja ülekannete konstrueerimise alused: hõõrd-, rihm-, hammas-, tigu- ja kettülekanded, kruvi- ja nukkmehhanismid, reduktorid, sidurid, jne.

Force and system of forces. Constraints and reactions at constraints. Geometrical and analytical addition of forces. Moment of a force about a point and about a given axis. Equilibrium of a system of forces. Equations of motion of a particle. Velocity and acceleration of a particle. Plane motion of a rigid body and the system of rigid bodies. Masspoint dynamics: mass, Newton's laws, equations of motion, moment of momentum. Rigid body dynamics: rotation of a rigid body about a fixed axis, moments of inertia, plane motion of a rigid body, spatial motion of rigid body. Work and energy: power and work, kinetic energy, conservative forces, conservation of energy.
Strength of components in compression and tension. Strength of components in torsion. Strength of joints in shear. Properties of plane areas. Strength of components in bending. Deformations under tension and compression. Twist under torsion. Deformations under bending.
Design of general purpose of machine elements: joints, shafts and axles, bearings, springs, etc. Bases of design of mechanisms and drives: friction-, belt-, gear-, worm gear and chain drives, screw and cam mechanisms, speed reducers, couplings, etc.
