course aims in Estonian
Anda rahvusvaheliselt tunnustatud nõuetele vastavad praktilisele kasutamisele suunatud teoreetilised teadmised põhimõtetes, mida tuleb järgida laeva vahiteenistuses ning praktilised oskused laeva vahiteenistuse organiseerimises ja sillaressursside juhtimises erinevates olukordades, erinevate laevaoperatsioonide käigus vastavalt STCW-78 koos muudatustega osa A-II/2 nõuetele.
Anda teadmised laevakokkupõrgete vältimisest ja praktilise oskuse kasutada rahvusvahelisi laevakokkupõrgete vältimise reegleid. Tutvustada meresõiduohutuse tagamist spetsialiseeritud laevadel, madalikule sattumisel ja avariitagajärgede likvideerimisel ning elu säilitamisest pärast laevahukku. Õpetada praktilisi oskuseid meresõiduohutuse tagamiseks ja anda teadmised riskide haldamisest, ohtlike tööde organiseerimisest, mere päästeoperatsioonides tegutsemisest ja abi osutamisest avariilaevale.

Provide internationally adopted knowledge , understanding and proficiency on watchkeeping arrangements and principles to be observed and practical ability to maintain watchkeeping and manage resources in dufferent situations and during different ship operations.
Provide thorough knowledge of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea according to STCW-78 as amended part A-II/2 requirements.
Also special ships safety, damage kontroll, actions to be taken on beached or grounded ship and survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment. Provide on safety management system, managing resource, using assertiveness and leadership, including motivation. Provide knowledge on risk management, organization of dangerous works, lifesaving operations at sea and means to assist a ship in emergency.

- omab põhjalikke teadmisi ja oskab õigesti kasutada Rahvusvahelisi laevakokku-põrgete vältimise reegleid;
- tunneb ja oskab järgida navigatsiooni-vahis käiguvahis nõutavaid põhimõtteid;
- oskab organiseerida vahti ja juhtida sillaressursse ja oskab hinnata inimfaktori rolli;
- tunneb ohutusnõudeid spetsialiseeritud laevadel;
- tunneb avariilise laeva olukorra hindamise ja avariitagajärgede likvideerimise meetodeid;
- oskab tegutseda madalikule sattunud laeval ja planeerida madalikult vabastamist;
- tunneb laeva päästevahendite kasutamist ja elu säilitamise meetodeid pärast laevahukku;
- tunneb ohutuse juhtimise süsteemi ja ohutuse tagamise organisatsioonilisi meetmeid;
- oskab juhtida laevapere ülesandeid ja töökoormust, planeerida töö- ja puhkeaega;
- oskab juhtida sillatööd ja kasutada ressursse, koordineerida ja paigutada selleks inimesi ning jagada ülesandeid ka aja- ja ressursinappuse tingimustes;
- oskab efektiivselt suhelda, end kehtestada, nõuda ja motiveerida, olla laevapere liider igas olukorras;
- tunneb otsustamise tehnoloogiaid hinnates olukordi ja riske, teostada riskianalüüsi ning valides vajaliku tegutsemisstiili soovitava tulemuse hinnangust lähtudes;
- oskab organiseerida ohtu kätkevate tööde ettevalmistamist ja vormistamist;
- tunneb merepääste- ja otsingu organisatsiooni ja taktikat, merehädaliste ja üle parda kukkunud inimese päästmise võtteid;
- oskab organiseerida abi osutamist hädas olevale või avariilisele laevale ja avariipukseerimist.

- ability to manage bridge team, personnel assignment, time and resource constrains and prioritization;

- knowledge and ability to apply decision-making techniques: situation and risk assessment, selecting course of action, evaluation of outcome effectiveness;
- ability to organize dangerous work;
- knowledge of organisation of search and rescue at sea and actions to be taken when man over board;
- ability to organize assistance for ship in emergency.

Vahi ülesanded navigatsioonilise ohutuse ja turvalisuse tagamisel. Sillaprotseduurid, ressursside juhtimine ja meeskonnatöö laevasillas. COLREG-72 üldsätted, manööverdus- ja sõidureeglid. Inimfaktori arvestamine vahi organiseerimisel. Spetsialiseeritud laevade ohutusnõuded. Avariitagajärgede likvideerimine ja tegevused madalikule sattunud laeval. Elu säilitamine pärast laevahukku. Inimfaktoriga seonduv meresõiduohutuse tagamisel. Ohuolukordade, tööohutuse, turvalisuse, arstiabi ja päästmisega seotud teenistusülesannete suhtes kohaldatavad nõuded. Laeva ohutuse kultuur. Juhi liidriroll ohutuse tagamisel. Riskide haldamise praktika. Pääste- ja otsinguoperatsioonide korraldamine ja praktiline tegevus inimeste päästmisel ja avariilaevale abi osutamisel.

      Assessment criterion
      The level of achieving the learning outcomes is assessed according to the following scale:
      1) „A “(5) (Excellent) –an excellent and outstandingly comprehensive level of achieving learning outcomes that is characterized by free and creative use of knowledge and skills at a level that is above very good.
      2) „B“ (4) (Very good) –a very good level of achieving the learning outcomes that is characterized by a purposeful and creative use of knowledge and skills. In case of more specific and detailed knowledge and skills, insubstantial minor mistakes might occur.
      3) „C“ (3) (Good) –a good level of learning outcomes is achieved that is characterized by a purposeful use of knowledge and skills. In case of more specific and detailed knowledge and skills, the student is uncertain and imprecise.
      4) „D“ (2) (Satisfactory) –achieving a sufficient level of learning outcomes that is characterized by the ability to use knowledge and skills in ordinary situations; however, in unusual situations deficiencies and hesitation become apparent
      5) „E“ (1) (Poor) –achieving the most important learning outcomes at a minimum level that is characterized by a limited use of knowledge and skills under typical circumstances; however, in unusual situations, significant deficiencies and hesitation become apparent.
      6) „F“ (0) (Fail) –student has acquired knowledge and skills at a level below the minimum.
      Ship bridge simulator participation is assessed as „counted“ in case of necessary activity.
      COLTREG Rules are assessed as:
      „A“ (5) - „Excellent“ – 96-100% right answers
      „B“ (4) – „Very good“ – 95-90% right answers
      „C“ (3) – „Good“ – 89-85% right answers
      „D“ (2) – „Satisfactory“ – 84-75% right answers
      „E“ (1) – „Poor“ is below of acceptable competency
      „F“ (0) – „Fail“ is below of acceptable competency

      Homeworks and tests are assessed as:
      „A“ (5) – „Excellent“ – answer without mistakes, solution correctly argued
      „B“ (4) – „Very good“ – answer without mistakes, solution with defects
      „C“ (3) – „Good“ – answer based on right teoretical basis without lapsus
      „D“ (2) – „Satisfactory“ – answer based on right teoretical basis, but solution has defects
      „E“ (1) – „Poor“ – answer brought schematically
      „F“ (0) – „Fail“ – probleem is not uderstood
