Aine eesmärk on võimaldada üliõpilastel omandada terviklikku nägemust laevanduse ja sadamate kompleksse digitaliseerimisega seotud arengutest, perspektiividest, ohtudest ja riskidest; anda baasteadmised aine sisu erinevate aspektidega seotud uurimissuundadest, -meetoditest ja -tulemustest.

The aim of this course is to enable students to gain a holistic view of developments, perspectives, threats and risks associated with the complex digitalisation of shipping and ports; to provide basic knowledge of research directions, methods and results related to various aspects of the course content.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- kirjeldab digitaalse revolutsiooni põhialuseid ja selle antropoloogilisi ning sotsiaalseid allikaid;
- defineerib põhimõisteid ja analüüsib andmekeskse lähenemisviisi tähtsust digitaalmajanduses;
- rakendab digitaalse ümberkujundamise kontseptsioone merendusuuringutes;
- töötab välja sobivaid küberstrateegilisi kontseptsioone merendusettevõtetele;
- omab vajalikke oskusi tööks merendusvaldkonna digitaalse muutumise juurutamisel multidistsiplinaarses meeskonnas.

After completing this course, the student:
- describes the fundamental basis of the digital revolution and its anthropologic and social sources;
- defines the concepts of intermediation and the importance of a data-centric approach in the digital economy;
- applies digital transformation concepts to maritime case studies;
- develops a cyber-strategic approach to digital transformation in the maritime industry;
- has necessary skills for working in a multi-disciplinary team working toward introducing digital transformation in maritime projects.

- Tehnilise tsivilisatsiooni areng viimase 250 aasta jooksul, tehnilised revolutsioonid.
- Neljas tehniline revolutsioon ja selle erinevus eelnevast kolmest.
- Meretranspordi digitaliseerimine ja selle perspektiivid.
- Tark laevandus kui intelligentsete laevade ja tarkade sadamate kompleksne süsteem.
- Targa lavanduse eelised ja puudused.
- Sise- ja välismõjutegurid ning ohud. SWAT-analüüs.
- Targa laevanduse kasutuselevõtuga soetud riskide hindamine.
- Globaalse majanduse tänapäeva riskid ja meretranspordi koht selles.
- Inimtegur uutes tingimustes vs tehisintellekt.
- Küberurvalisuse tagamine kui üks peamisi väljakutseid targale laevandusele.
- Ülevaade küberturvalisuse peamistest apketidest ning teadmised ja oskused küberriskide maandamisel ja ohtude kõrvaldamisel. Kontrolli säilitamise või kaotamise probleemid.
- Uued sotsiaalsed ja hariduslikud paradigmad.
- Väljakutsed meretranspordi personali, eriti meremeeste haridusele ja toimetuleku tagamisele.
- Õigusregulatsiooni küsimused. Võimalikud arengusuunad.

- The fourth industrial revolution and its difference from the previous three.
- Digitalisation of maritime transport and its perspectives.
- Smart shipping as a complex system of intelligent ships and smart ports.
- Advantages and disadvantages of smart shipping.
- Internal and external impact factors and threats. SWAT analysis.
- Assessing the risks associated with the introduction of smart shipping.
- Today's risks of the global economy and the place of maritime transport in it.
- The human factor in new conditions vs. artificial intelligence.
- Ensuring cyber security as one of the major challenges for smart shipping.
- The overview of main aspects of cyber security and knowledge and skills to mitigate the cyber risks on ships.
- The role and capabilities of insurance in managing and eliminating risks related to smart shipping. Problems maintaining or losing control.
- New social and educational paradigms.
- Challenges for the education and coping of maritime transport personnel, especially seafarers.
