Õppeaine eesmärk on:
- tutvustada üliõpilasele keskkonnamõjusid laevanduses ja sadamategevuses ning nende juhtimist;
- anda üliõpilasele baasteadmised keskkonnaküsimuste õigusalase käsitluse kohta, samuti nende bioloogilistest mõjudest;
- võimaldada üliõpilasel omandada baasteadmisi keskkonnateemade rakendamise kohta laevandusettevõtte strateegilises planeerimises ja kommunikatsioonis.
- tutvustada üliõpilasele keskkonnamõjusid laevanduses ja sadamategevuses ning nende juhtimist;
- anda üliõpilasele baasteadmised keskkonnaküsimuste õigusalase käsitluse kohta, samuti nende bioloogilistest mõjudest;

The aim of this course is to:
- introduce the student to the environmental impacts of shipping and port activities and their management;
- provide the student with basic knowledge of the legal treatment of environmental issues, as well as their biological effects;
- enable the student to acquire basic knowledge of the application of environmental topics in the strategic planning and communication of a shipping company.

Aine läbinud üliõpilane:
- määrab laevanduse ja sadamategevuse erinevaid mõjusid keskkonnale ja rakendab nende arvutamise ja võrdlemise meetodeid;
- rakendab keskkonnamõjude vähendamise viise laevanduses ja sadamates, on teadlik kasvuhoonegaaside mõju vähendamise viisidest;
- seostab IMO ja EL keskkonnaalaste regulatsioonide nõudeid laevanduse ning sadamatoimingute osas oma töö olemuse ja väljakutsetega ning rakendab neid keskkonnasäästlike äristrateegiate väljatöötamisel.
- määrab laevanduse ja sadamategevuse erinevaid mõjusid keskkonnale ja rakendab nende arvutamise ja võrdlemise meetodeid;
- rakendab keskkonnamõjude vähendamise viise laevanduses ja sadamates, on teadlik kasvuhoonegaaside mõju vähendamise viisidest;

Student who has passed the course:
- is able to determine the different effects of shipping and port activities on the environment and apply the methods of their calculation and comparison;
- is able to apply ways to reduce environmental impacts in shipping and ports, is aware of ways to reduce the impact of greenhouse gases;
- links the requirements of IMO and EU environmental regulations for shipping and port operations to the nature and challenges of his / her work and applies them in the development of environmentally sustainable business strategies.

Keskkonnaprobleemid ning –väljakutsed ja nende surve laevandusele ning sadamategevusele. Kahjulikud keskkonnamõjud, sh kasvuhoonegaaside mõjud ja nende vähendamise viisid. IMO ja EL keskkonnaalased regulatsioonid ning nende võimalikud arengud tulevikus. Keskkonnalase jätkusuutlikkuse käsitlemine laevandusfirmas strateegilisel ja operatiivsel tasemel.
