Aine eesmärk on:
- võimaldada üliõpilasel omandada põhiteadmised laevandusturgudest nii laevade kui ka kaubaturgude kontekstis;
- anda üliõpilasele vahendid rahvusvaheliste meretranspordi kaubavoogude kõikumiste ja veohindade analüüsimiseks;
- anda üliõpilasele teadmisi laevandusfirma strateegilistest valikutest ja eduteguritest arusaamiseks;
- luua üliõpilasele võimalused arusaamiseks sadamate seostest meremajandusega ning sadamastrateegiate põhitõdedest;
- anda üliõpilasele vajalikud teadmised merendusklastri ja selle edutegurite mõistmiseks;
- luua üliõpilasele tingimused meretranspordiga logistikajuhtimise seotuse mõistmiseks.

The aim of this course is to:
- enable the student to acquire basic understanding of shipping markets in the context of both ship and cargo markets;
- provide the student with means to analyse international maritime cargo flows fluctuations and freight rates;
- provide the student with an understanding of the strategic choices and success factors of a shipping company;
- create opportunities for students to understand the links between ports and the maritime economics and the basics of port strategies;
- provide the student with necessary knowledge to understand the concept of maritime cluster and its success factors;
- create conditions for the student to understand how logistics management is linked with maritime transport.
