1) teab ja saab aru astronoomiliste objektide (tähed, planeedid, galaktikad jms) ehitust, tekemehhanisme ja evolutsiooni;
2) tunneb astronoomiliste vaatluste läbiviimise põhialuseid;
3) saab aru astrofüüsika rolli meid ümbritseva maailma nähtuste kirjeldamisel ja analüüsil;
4) omab astronautika ajaloo ülevaadet ja saab aru kosmosetehnika rolli kaasaegses maailmas;
5) tunneb orbitaalmehaanika põhiprintsiipe ja omab algteadmisi reaktiivliikumisest;
6) suudab kirjeldada kanderakettide ja tehiskaaslaste alamsüsteeme.

1) understands structure, origins and evolution of astronomical objects (stars, planets, galaxies etc);
2) understands the basics of astronomical observations;
3) knows the role of astrophysics in understanding natural phenomena;
4) knows the history of spaceflight and its tasks in today’s world;
5) understands the principles of the orbital motion and jet propulsion;
6) is able to describe in general launch vehicles and spacecraft subsystems.

(1) Astrofüüsika. Astronoomilised vaatlused. Tähesuurus, tähtede põhiparameetrid, spektrid. Tähtede siseehitus, teke ja evolutsioon. Kaksiktähed ja muutlikud tähed. Kõdunud objektid (valged kääbused, neutrontähed) ja mustad augud. Päikesesüsteem, päikesesüsteemi objektide iseloomustus. Galaktikad, nende tüübid ja alamsüsteemid. Galaktikate parved ja superparved, Universumi struktuur. Tume aine ja tume energia. Universumi teke, universumi paisumine, taustkiirgus.
(2) Kosmonautika. Kosmonautika ajalugu. Orbiitide tüübid ja orbitaalmehaanika elemendid. Manööverdamine orbiidil. Kaugkosmose missioonid. Reaktiivliikumise põhiprintsiibid. Kanderakettide, satelliitide ja kosmoselaevade tüübid. Rakettmootorid ja rakettide elemendid. Kosmoselennu etapid: laskmine, lend, maandumine. Kosmoseprogrammid.

(1) Astrophysics. Astronomical observations. Stellar magnitude, stellar spectra, main parameters of stars. Stellar structure, birth and evolution. Binary and variable stars. Degenerate objects (white dwarfs, neutron stars) and black holes. Solar System and its objects. Galaxies, types and structure of galaxies. Galaxy clusters and superclusters. Structure of the Universe. Dark matter and dark energy. Birth of the Universe, Hubble expansion, cosmic microwave background.
(2) Spaceflight. History of spaceflight. Types of orbits and elements of orbital mechanics. Orbital maneuvers. Deep space missions. Jet propulsion. Types of launch vehicles, satellites and spacecraft. Rocket engines, principle systems of launch vehicles. Phases of space missions: launch, cruise, landing.
