Kursuse edukalt läbinud üliõpilane:
Oskab kirjeldada aatomite elektronstruktuuri, keemilise sideme erinevaid liike, nende mõju aine omadustele.
Oskab ennustada molekuli kuju lähtudes VSEPR ja valentssidemete meetoditest.
Oskab ennustada elemendi keemilisi ja füüsikalisi omadusi lähtuvalt selle asukohast perioodilisuse süsteemis.
Tunneb termodünaamika põhimõisteid, oskab hinnata protsesside kulgemise tingimusi ja suunda, teha sellega seonduvaid arvutusi.
Tunneb ja oskab rakendada tähtsamaid hapete ja aluste teooriaid.
Oskab keemia ülesannete lahendamisel valida ja kasutada sobivaid meetodeid.
Oskab teha arvutusi, mis seonduvad gaaside, aurudega ja vedelikega.

The student who has successfully passed the course:
Is able to describe the electronic structure of atoms, different types of chemical bonds, their influence on the properties of compounds.
Is able to predict the shape of molecules on the basis of the VSEPR and valence bond methods.
Is able to predict chemical and physical properties of an element from its position in the periodic system.
Knows the fundamental principles of thermodynamics, is able to judge the conditions of carrying out processes, their dircetion, and to perform related calculations.
Knows and is able to apply the main theories of acids and bases.
Is able to select and use suitable methods for solving chemistry problems.
Is able to perform calculations involving gases, vapors and liquids.

Keemiliste elementide perioodilisuse süsteem.
Keemiline side.
Molekulide kuju, selle ennustamine ja seos aine omadustega.
Keemiline kineetika.
Gaasid, nendega seotud arvutused.
Vedelikud ja tahkised, nende omaduste seos aine molekulaarse ehitusega.
Termodünaamika kolm seadust, termokeemilised arvutused.
Füüsikaline ja keemiline tasakaal. Entroopia, protsessi toimumise suund.
Happed ja alused: Arrheniuse, Brönstedi, Lewisi käsitlused.
Elektrokeemia alused.

Atoms, their structure and properties.
Periodic system of the elements.
Chemical bond.
Shape of molecules, its prediction and relationship with bulk properties.
Chemical kinetics.
Gases, calculations involving the same.
Liquids and solids, relationship of their properties with molecular structure.
Three laws of thermodynamics, thermochemical calculations.
Physical and chemical equilibrium. Entropy, direction of processes.
Acids and bases: models by Arrhenius, Brönsted, Lewis.
Fundamentals of electrochemistry.

Eksamile pääsemiseks peavad eksamile eelnevaks päevaks olema täidetud eksamieeldused:
Tasemetestist saavutatud vähemalt 4 punkti 10-st.
Harjutustundidest: positiivselt sooritatud kontrolltöö (vähemalt 12 punkti 30-st)
Lõpphinnet mõjutab tasemetest 10% ulatuses, harjutustunni kontrolltöö 30% ulatuses, ja eksam 60% ulatuses.

In order to be admitted to the exam, the following prerequisites must be met at the latest on the day before the exam:
Test of prior knowledge: at least 4 points out of 10.
Exercise classes: at least 12 points out of 30 from the test.
Final grade is calculated from results of the test of prior knowledge (10%), test from excercise class (30%) and the exam (60%).
