Study programme aims and objectives
Study programme aims, objectives:
-To provide students with

comprehensive theoretical and specialized knowledge and skills human resources professionals need for working in public, private and third sector organizations and thus contribute to the quality of personnel management in Estonia.
- To create conditions for acquiring science-based education and professional skills identified in the Professional Standard for Personnel Management, levels VI and VII, and in conformity with EAPM (European Association of People Management) directions.
- To provide professional competencies that enable HR managers and specialists to efficiently and professionally develop personnel strategy and policy suitable for the organization to achieve set goals and to counsel the leaders of an organisation in the field of human resource management.
- To create opportunities for acquiring competencies to conduct research in the field of human resources and thus contribute to evidence-based human resource management in Estonia.

Learning outcomes of the study programme
Upon successful completion of the curriculum, the graduate:

- demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of human resource management and applies it in their areas of specialization;
- understands the strategic importance of human resource management in a broader context of organizational management;
- is able to assess the impact of societal and economic regulatory mechanisms and processes on the functioning of the organization, working environment and employment relationships;
- has the competence to initiate field-specific problem-solving activities and participate in expert discussions and counsel the management of an organisation on human resource management issues;
- is able to apply appropriate theories and research methods to carry out organisation and human resource surveys and analyse and interpret the results;
- acts professionally in difficult situations at work, is aware of the ethical aspects of work and the impact of a human resource manager’s role on the organization and in the society in general;
- critically assesses the level of his/her own knowledge and skills in a changing socio-economic environment and possesses the skills needed for independent life-long learning;
- has acquired profound methodological and research skills to continue studies at doctoral level.

Graduation requirements
Completion of the curriculum in the required amount, and the successful defence of the graduation paper in conformity with the requirements set by the TalTech Senate.
In order to obtain Cum Laude diploma the graduation paper must be defended for the grade "5" and the weighted average grade must be at least 4,60, where all grades from diploma supplement are taken into account.

      - is able to develop a personnel strategy suitable for the organization and understands the formation of a personnel policy that is in line with the organization's goals, values and strategies;
      - understands financial accounting as a part of the accounting system and has a basic understanding of cost management;
      - takes into account the results of the analysis of financial statements when making management decisions in their field;

      - has a thorough understanding of the functioning and problems of one of the areas of human resources management;


      - formulates a scientific problem within the framework of the research topic, creates a theoretical basis for the research work in order to solve and analyze it, based on relevant and up-to-date international scientific sources, referring to them, analyzing and critically evaluating them;
      - sets up research questions/hypotheses and selects appropriate social science research methods for collecting, processing and analyzing data to solve/prove them;
      - critically evaluates the results of the study, draws appropriate conclusions based on the data, finds connections and patterns;
