The graduated PhD student:
- demonstrates a broad and systematic overview of his/her research field;
- demonstrates a deep knowledge in his/her research topic;
- defines research problems, chooses appropriate research methods for solving them and critically assesses the quality of solutions;
- is familiar with research methods, can choose and use appropriate methods for solving complex real world problems;
- has demonstrated that he/she can publish research results in peer-reviewed high-quality international journals and conference proceedings;
- follows social and ethical norms related to his/her research field;
- uses commercialization opportunities of his/her research results;

Learning outcomes
After completing this module the student:
- demonstrates broad-based
knowledge and systematic overview of the field of his research as well as deep and up to date knowledge in the narrow specialty in his field of research and applies this knowledge to his research;
- analyzes meanings and applicability of research methods and knowledge both from the research field and interdisciplinary. If necessary can generalize, broaden re-assess and formulate them;
- communicates verbally and in the written form problems concerning the research and the corresponding field of science, makes conclusions and explain theories which they are based on clearly and understandably to the research community and the general public;
- uses terminology, argues, gives reasons and participates in discussions in the study language and a foreign language;
- writes papers and articles for publishing original scientific results in proceedings of international conferences and scientific journals;
- critically reads and analyses research literature, defines research problems and assesses their potential, novelty, significance and impact;
- initializes, plans and conducts research and development, critically evaluates the results;
- follows the course of conduct in his/her specific research field and the best practices of communicating the research results;
