Study programme aims and objectives
The goal of the master’s curriculum is to prepare specialists in civil engineering who have a broad understanding of theoretical principles,
competences and skills in civil engineering that enables to work as a specialist in the field of engineering survey, road and bridge construction, structural engineering, construction management, indoor climate and technical systems, energy efficiency of buildings, water and environmental engineering or real estate maintenance and/or continue in doctoral study. Learning outcomes of the study programme
Upon completion of the curriculum, the student:
- has acquired the theoretical knowledge,
competences and skills in the selected specialty according to the requirements of the European qualification framework level 7;
- is able to initiate, approach creatively, plan and take responsibility for activities related to practical and other field-specific problem-solving assignments while working independently or in team;

Completion of the curriculum in the required amount, and the successful defence of the graduation paper in conformity with the requirements set by the TalTech Senate.

- introduce the basic concepts and terminology of power supply, provide an overview of electrical power consumers, explain the types and nature of electrical loads, introduce the structure of power networks and power supply systems;
- provide an overview of the most important power supplies and requirements for the electrical power quality, application of power system protection and automation and the possibilities of saving energy;

- fostering insight into construction economics and entrepreneurship establishes a solid foundation for understanding the courses Organization of Construction and Construction Management and provides knowledge of the principles of construction entrepreneurship, the business environment, and the establishment of a construction company;
- knowledge of HVAC systems provides an input to the construction process module.

Aims
The aim of the module Courses Related to Civil Engineering is to provide an overview of field-related subjects in order to establish a foundation for specialized studies:
- fostering insight into construction economics and entrepreneurship establishes a solid foundation for understanding the courses Organization of Construction and Construction Management and provides knowledge of the principles of construction entrepreneurship, the business environment, and the establishment of a construction company;
- knowledge of HVAC systems provides an input to the construction process module.
The purpose of the elective courses is to provide students with deeper understanding of the key areas related to civil engineering by giving an overview of connections between the subjects covered in the course of study.
